Lead Curator - Hokitika Museum

A proud West Coast institution, Hokitika Museum is committed to nurturing the histories and stories of the environment and people that have called the West Coast home.
Here is a career opportunity. We are looking for a Curator of History. As Hokitika Museum embarks on an important exhibition renewal project, you will be the newest member of a team producing cultural history content for our newly earthquake strengthened building. You will help tell the stories and interpret the West Coast’s past and future aspirations for audiences that are both local and global, real and virtual, and who want to know more about where we have come from and where we are going.

In this role, you will help lead the research, analyze, develop, and document content for new exhibitions. You will ensure the concept, themes, and stories are suitable for the identified target audiences, bi-culturally representative and accurate, provide appropriate context for the taonga/archives, and showcase Hokitika Museum’s point of difference within the culture and heritage sector. You will provide creative, design, and delivery of exhibitions support at Hokitika Museum.
You’ll bring excellent project coordination experience as well as strong communication and people skills. You will be able to work collaboratively and effectively across the Museum to ensure accountability and delivery of exhibition content.
Some weekend work, outside of office hours, will need to be undertaken, particularly concerning community engagement.
