MOREH, Jul 8 : Apropos to the alleged report that the bodies of the two Tamils who were shot dead at Tamu have been cremated by Myanmar authority, a meeting of community leaders in Moreh was convened today at the office of Tamil Sangam wherein three resolutions were adopted.
The community leaders unanimously agreed  to urge the family members of the two deceased Tamils to perform the last rites as the corpses have already been cremated by the Myanmar authority (published in a newspaper based in Myanmar), to reopen all shops, hotels and other establishments in Moreh Town and to not authorise border crossing.
The community leaders, however, said that they still can't ascertain whether the two bodies have been cremated or not as Myanmar hasn't given any response in this regard.
They then urged the Tengnoupal DC to confirm whether the bodies have been cremated or not.
Saying that the Myanmar authorities must clarify the motive for killing the two Indians, the community leaders urged the Government to take the matter  with utmost seriousness and resolve the issue at the earliest.
Meanwhile, a team of top Government officials and community leaders met the family members of the two Tamils who were shot dead at Myanmar's Tamu  and apprised them that due process and paper works have begun to take back the corpses.
The deceased P Mohan (28), s/o late Perumal from Moreh Ward no 2 and M Iyarnar (35), s/o Murga from Moreh Ward no 4 were killed at Tamu on July 5 last.
The team which reached out to the victims' families include DIG Angam Ningshen, Tengnoupal DC  Mannuamching, Tengnoupal SP B Golianmang, Railway/Special Commando SP Th Krishnatombi, CO of 3rd IRB Somorjit, ex-Chairman of ADC Chandel Lukhosei Zou and community leaders based in Moreh.
During the visit, the DIG and Tengnoupal DC apprised that due process is on to claim the bodies from  the Myanmar authority.
After the meeting, the Government officials convened a meeting with the community leaders.
There, the Tengnoupal DC said that the authority at Myanmar has not given any response though numerous letters have been sent to the district administration of Tamu to hand over the two corpses.
He said that the Government will continue to demand the Myanmar authority to hand over the bodies though it is difficult to work out a proper channel for the time being due to the prevailing situation in Myanmar.
DIG Angam Ningshen also said that the Myanmar authority has not responded to the demand to hand over the bodies for the time being.
It may be recalled that the State Government beefed up security measures in the border town after a  number of Moreh denizens protested against the killings and torched an outpost of Myanmar Army.
