The Telangana Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to fully lift lockdown restrictions from June 20 and opening up of all educational institutions from July 1.

The Cabinet, which met here today, after taking inputs from the State Health officials on the Covid pandemic situation, which is now under check, has decided to lift all existing restrictions. The lockdown, which was imposed on May 12 after the second wave hit a peak, ended today (June 19). As of today, the State is faced with 6 pm to 6 am curfew.

With Covid now under control, the Cabinet also decided to allow all educational institutions to function normally, with necessary precautions and safety measures, from July 1. The Education department was directed to prepare instructions and guidelines on the attendance of the students, online classes and other related issues.

The State Government sought the support and cooperation from people for its decision, which was taken for the benefit of public life and revival of livelihood.

State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued orders allowing all the activities that were permitted prior to the introduction of lockdown in the State with immediate effect.

The order also makes it clear that the wearing of face mask and maintaining social distancing shall be compulsory in public places, in work places and in means of transport. Any non-compliance in this regard shall attract prosecution u/s.51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188 of IPC as well as other applicable laws. The failure to wear face mask as mandated shall attract a penalty of Rs 1000.

All shops, offices and establishments shall ensure that all Covid norms are followed. The order also permits all education institutions to re-open from July 1, 2021
