The government has added a new feature on the CoWIN platform and Aarogya Setu app, which enable the vaccination drive across the country.
Now, beneficiaries can rectify online the errors being inadvertently made in their inoculation certificates. The decision comes after many complaints were made to the Health Ministry about errors regarding misspelling of name, location and date of birth in vaccination certificates. The rectification can be made in both the certificates issued after each dose.
“Now, you can make corrections to your name, year of birth, and gender on your Cowin vaccination certificates if inadvertent errors have come in. Go to http://cowin.gov.in and Raise an Issue,” Aarogya Setu tweeted Tuesday.
Misuse of app
However, amid concerns that the new feature may be misused by miscreants, RS Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of National Health Authority and in-charge of CoWIN platform, said they will ensure that it is not put to wrong use.
“We willensure that the new feature is not misused and only the actual beneficiary can make the needed changes to rectify the errors on the vaccination certificates,” said Sharma.
Also, in order to further facilitate the access to vaccination by those with disabilities, the Health Ministry had allowed using Unique Disability Identification (UDID) card as photo ID to register themselves on the CoWIN platform.
The government has been continuously upgrading the CoWIN platform to make it more user-friendly so that the maximum number of people can register themselves for the inoculation against Covid-19. So far, 27.42 crore beneficiaries have registered themselves on the CoWIN platform, of which, 11.29 crore beneficiaries are between the age group of 18-44 and 16.13 crore above 45.
