The Kiingitanga is calling for a peaceful resolution to the occupation at Parliament and other sites across the country.

In a statement, spokesperson Rahui Papa said the Kiingitanga had not given its support to any occupation and claims to the contrary were untrue.
Papa said Kiingi Tuheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero had been a strong advocate for the Covid-19 response, while acknowledging the impact on people and their families.
"Kiingi Tuuheitia has always said the wellbeing of our people is paramount, which is why we have been united against the virus, just like our ancestors did in the 1918 pandemic," Papa said.
The Kiingitanga said its priority was to get through Omicron and start preparing for a life after Covid-19.
Last year, the Kiingitanga and other paramount Māori groups also threw its support behind the vaccination campaign.
