Air Tahiti Nui will operate a one-off one-way flight from Auckland to Tahiti tomorrow.

The French Polynesian carrier said the ad hoc passenger flight will carry travellers wanting to be repatriated.

The airline has been operating a scheduled weekly cargo service between Auckland and Tahiti since early July.

It said passengers travelling to Paris or Los Angeles have the option of taking a short stopover holiday in Tahiti if they are fully vaccinated and comply with all French Polynesia entry conditions.

A fully vaccinated visitor who has been in New Zealand for at least 15 days can enter French Polynesia subject to several entry conditions.

They include the need to register and submit documentation on a web-based Electronic Travel Information System.

A person is considered fully vaccinated seven days after receiving a second dose of the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to the airline's website, regular flights between New Zealand and French Polynesia remain suspended until at least early November.

However, media reports say the conditional resumption of flights is not planned until March 26th.

From next month, Air Tahiti Nui is expected to boost flight numbers to France, flying again via the US instead of Canada.
