Concerns around escalating violence in Auckland's west.

Three officers were shot today in Glen Eden, officers returning fire and killing the gunman.

Police Commissioner Andrew Coster told Heather du Plessis-Allan there's nothing to indicate it was gang-related.

He recognises Police are always under some level of risk.

“What I think we’re seeing is some different events that are much more brazen, a willingness to use firearms at police that we have seen not since in the past.”
