A new political poll brings more bad news for the Labour government, with a coalition between National and ACT polling higher than one between Labour and the Greens.
The Taxpayers' Union Curia Poll puts support for National at 39 percent, up two points from September. ACT dropped three points to 9 percent.
If these results translate to the 2023 election, these two established allies could form a coalition of 63 seats in Parliament - enough to govern the country.
Labour moved up a point to 34 percent, and the Greens fell three points to 7 percent - not enough combined to let Labour govern.
In terms of preferred prime minister Jacinda Ardern has dropped three points to 33 percent, while Christopher Luxon has dropped three points to 22 percent.
The Taxpayers' Union Curia Poll was conducted from 2-11 October and had a sample size of 1000 eligible New Zealand voters, 800 who were polled by phone and 200 by online panel.
The margin of error was 3.1 percent.
