Four people have been arrested after a gang tangi in Porirua on Wednesday.
A group of about 200 cars made through multiple suburbs and down State Highway 1 on Wednesday afternoon for the tangi of 35-year-old Mongrel Mob member Terry Taiapa, who was killed in a motorbike collision.
Kāpiti-Mana area prevention manager Insp Nick Thom says the procession caused "some disruption" as it passed through several suburbs to the city.
"There was a significant police presence during the procession to ensure public safety."
During the procession, several offences were identified. Thom said four people were arrested, one person was summonsed to appear in court, 27 infringement notices were issued, five drivers licences were suspended and two cars were impounded.
He said investigations were continuing to identify further offences.
"Police are thanking the people of Porirua for their patience during a tangi procession yesterday," Thom said in a statement.
"Police are continuing to make enquiries to identify offences and any members of the public who have information or video footage of the event should call 105 or contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
Earlier this week, 50 infringement notices were issued following dangerous driving at a tangi in Porirua last month.
