Clarke Gayford has uncovered a bizarrely realistic deepfake video that sees him take on a starring role in the cult classic film The Princess Bride alongside Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
The first man tweeted the clip, created by YouTube user Genuine Fake, along with the message "Ok who made this and um.... Why??"
The two-minute-long sequence is titled 'The Princess and the Farmboy - Jacinda Ardern/Clarke Gayford', and expertly edits in Ardern as Buttercup, played by Robin Wright, and Gayford as Westley, played by Cary Elwes.
In the iconic scene, Westly the farm boy repeatedly replies "as you wish" to the many requests of the silken-haired Buttercup, as the pair slowly fall in love.
Gayford's tweet quickly caused a stir on social media, with some commenters already hanging out for a sequel.
"A love story for the ages," one Twitter user wrote, while another questioned: "how accurately does this tell the origin story?"
"This is GOLD!" one message on the YouTube video read. "Thank you for taking the time to make it. Actual lol."
The Genuine Fake YouTube account has created many more spoofs featuring famous faces from New Zealand politics - including National Party leader Judith Collins appearing as Austin Powers character Fat Bastard, former party leader Todd Muller as Dr Evil, and Green Party MP Chloe Swarbrick as Harry Potter actress Emma Watson.
