KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Bank Rakyat has formed a strategic partnership with TNG Digital Sdn Bhd as it eyes 10 per cent of the 10 million active Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet users to start using the bank’s JomPAY biller services via the eWallet app.

Bank Rakyat chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammad Hanis Osman said the partnership has secured 800 transactions on daily basis at a value of nearly RM300,000 each day in the last 30 days since the partnership started.

The collaboration allows in-app bill payments made via JomPAY and “this is the latest bank-fintech collaboration set to re-shape the digital payments landscape in this country,” the bank said in a joint statement with Touch’nGo eWallet and PayNet. TNG eWallet users can start making bill payments to overs 10,000 JomPay billers “within the TNG eWallet apps.”

JomPay is operated by PayNet.

Mohammad Hanis also said digitalisation is one of the six pillars in its five-year strategic plan.

“This collaboration marks the continuation of Bank Rakyat’s digital transformation journey and ambition to reach new customer segments using e-wallet platforms.

“It is also to respond positively to the competitive nature of the payment systems, characterised by increased consumer preferences for convenience and frictionless payment options,” he said separately in a media conference at the launch.

Meanwhile, TNG Digital Sdn Bhd CEO Alan Ni said the company’s eWallet users now have a comprehensive billing solution for them to make payments securely on a single platform.

“We will continue to work with like-minded partners such as Bank Rakyat and PayNet to bring inclusive digital solutions that will benefit users and businesses alike,” he added. — Bernama
