Dear Friends, All of us who enjoyed Neil Armstrong's first step on the Moon will be super-excited as human race is closer to conquering #Space - the final frontier. Two passionate billionaires Jeff Bezos & Elon Musk in their deep desire to migrate us are giving a great push off the mother Earth. #Migration of human race to Space is not a typical Digital technology topic, but I have taken liberty to include the same, as innovation, technology, capital and big dreams are all involved to push us into the stars and make human civilization inter-planetary. Both Bezos and Musk are driven by their belief that humanity's ultimate future requires our expansion into space. Both are developing privately funded, reusable, human-carrying vehicles heading towards the space. As, we conclude, this series on digital introduction, our advise to all Leaders preparing to foray is first articulate their #Digital vision with clear transformation goals over short and long terms. Then, focus on 5 levers to make the business 'Digital Ready' namely - a) #DigitalStrategy b) #Innovation model c) #Talent readiness d) Leveraging #Data e) Partner #Collaboration Best wishes in your transformation journey, preparing for this interconnected & disruptive world. Dear Friends, In our penultimate post, we introduce #Biotechnology - the technology that uses biology's fundamental components - our genes, proteins, cells as tools to enhance life span. The human body is a collection of 30 trillion cells & inside each cell our DNA & Gene is the software that codes us. Biotechnology is the science to fix a cell. Gene therapy replaces defective DNA, Gene editing technique repair DNA and Stem Cells replace the old cell entirely. What's more critical here is the combined power of all these techniques that will lead us to an era of incredible tools to preserve life. Separately, Global warming and extreme climates is forcing us to switch away from fossil fuels. #Energy switch has three major parts: Energy Generation, Storage and Green Transportation. Good news in Energy Generation is Wind & Solar power are riding exponential growth curves due to consistent drop in prices & rising performance. Similarly, with 115 Gigafactories in pipeline, global capacity for Energy Storage is slated to be 4 times at 2,068 GWH. Finally, Regulators are pressuring Auto industry to shift toward Electric Vehicle. With US$ 300 B, commitment the sector is all geared to go Electric. Looking forward to your comments. Dear Friends, Material science is the branch devoted to development of new materials. Now, by using AI & high performance computing, scientists have been able to accelerate new material discovery. #Nanotechnology is the outer edge of material science where this new matter manipulation gets Nano-small. The impact of this very very small is about to get very large as progress on nano-materials has been swift & will be all pervasive. Separately, the #Food all of us eat, is undergoing major disruption both at the Kitchen and in the Farm. With technology convergence of AI, Blockchain, Robotics & 3D Printing our food choices are rapidly expanding from traditional to latest craze fusion foods while cooking is being taken over by Robochefs trained using ML videos. In order to make food chain more efficient, the idea of #Verticalfarming is fast catching rage. Similarly, advances in biotechnology is helping grow meat from single stem cell. #Culturedmeat, milk & organic vegetables will be more healthier with right dose of proteins & vitamins and lower saturated fats. The environment benefit of these new ideas, while managing Billions of people growing World hunger will be immense & far more ethical Look forward to your valued feedback. Dear Friends, Today, we introduce the new World of #3dprinting, disrupting traditional Manufacturing & Supply Chain. This exponential technology threatens the entire US$12 Trillion Manufacturing Sector. It is amazing how 3D Printing innovation is helping build complex products with ease while unit prices are being democratized. This unique technology is disrupting multiple Sectors across the field of Electronics, Renewable Energy, Transport, Biotech, Health, Construction, Education, Arts & Jewelry and Fashion & Apparels arena. Separately, in this pandemic times, #Healthcare has gained higher prominence. The present system is reactive as Doctors are trained for after the fact intervention, fighting a rearguard battle. With four technological shifts - every step in the medical chain is being reinvented, On the front end, the convergence of Sensors, Networks & AI is upending the medical diagnostics. In the middle, Robotics & 3D printing are changing the medical procedure. On the back end, AI, genomics & Quantum Computing are transforming medicines themselves. Dear friends, We in our 7th post introduce the concept - quantum bits that help provide an unbelievable large storage space/power for #quantumcomputing. For example an 80 qubit 'Quantum Computer' would have more storage capacity than if all the atoms of the universe stored one bit of information each. With global testing in progress, this radical technology is around the corner to power multiple applications like shorter cycle for new drugs, better weather forecasting or optimizing complex models of consumer behavior or financial markets etc. Also included is introduction to #cloudcomputing Services (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) & emerging #edgecomputing technology designed to serve low latency/real time application needs. Just like other sectors, these converging technologies will also disrupt #Education environment. Learning has two main issues: Quantity & Quality. Our present education was created in another time for a different world - one size fits all model needs to give way to individually customized learning. Future of #Education driven by VR/AR & AI will address needs of Millions of children who lack access to basic education & provide creative,engaging & accelerated learning environment. Dear Friends, Our 5th post is on the exciting world of #Sensors & disruption in #Shopping & #Retail. It is estimated, by Year 2030, globally 500+ Billion devices will be connected & Sensors will be in everything & omnipresent. Sociologist Neil Gross, prediction aptly describes the scale of impact of Sensors. 'In the next century, planet earth will don electric skin. It will use internet as a scaffold to transmit its sensation. This will consist of embedded devices - thermostats, pressure gauges,cameras, microphone etc. These will monitor cities, atmosphere,highways, species, our bodies & even our dreams' Digitization will inevitably transform this world & our experiences. We use the example of emerging Frictionless Shopping phenomena to project future of Retail. Binit & myself are enjoying sharing these learning and receiving your encouraging responses.
