National Reconciliation Week (NRW) from 27 May – 3 June, is a time to reflect on our shared histories and cultures, and how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. As part of our NRW activities, today our CEO NRMA Insurance Julie Batch hosted a session with Ian Hamm MAICD FIPAA, Chair of Board, First Nations Foundation, who delivered a thought provoking speech centred around NRW’s theme ‘Now More Than Ever’. Mr Hamm spoke about the pressing need now more than ever for Australians to reengage in conversation to find a pathway forward, and the important role economic participation plays for Indigenous Australians in that journey. “Economic participation has a greater effect on lifting the living standards and the place of people in society more than any other tool. It gives fundamental rights. It’s the economy that lifts you up and is the way forward for my people.” #NRW2024

We are pleased to commemorate the 165th birthday of our New Zealand brand, NZI.    Established in 1859, NZI is one of New Zealand’s oldest business insurance brands. NZI started 39 years before the first car arrived in the country, 29 years before the first public supply of electricity and 19 years before the first telephone call was made in New Zealand.   Executive General Manager NZI Garry Taylor, said: "Today, we have a team of 500 and a network of 3,500 broker partners who all play an important role in providing 300,000 New Zealand business customers with expert advice."   Read the full story here - https://lnkd.in/gHb3z2y4

Today, we recognise the importance of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This is a significant day that aims to raise awareness about discrimination, violence, and challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.   While IDAHOBIT has evolved over the years, the purpose remains the same - to celebrate the progress made in LGBTQ+ equality while raising awareness of the ongoing discrimination still faced today.     Yesterday our Chief Financial Officer William McDonnell hosted a special event for our Australia and New Zealand teams with Olympic gold medallist and former rugby 7's player Ellia Green. This conversation was an opportunity to hear about Ellia's lived experience, the importance of addressing barriers and how to show allyship in the workplace. We want to thank Ellia and William for such an engaging session.   At IAG, we are committed to building an organisational culture that is inclusive and equitable, respecting the diversity of our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities we serve.

Every 3 years, Beef Australia hosts a week-long event in Rockhampton which brings together national and international representatives from every facet of the cattle industry. It’s an important milestone in the agricultural calendar, enabling attendees to share ideas, discuss challenges and celebrate achievements. Our WFI Insurance brand has a long and proud history of supporting the Australian cattle industry, and had a strong contingent on the ground last week at #beef2024. For WFI Executive Manager Distribution Timothy Jeffcoat GAICD, born and raised in Rockhampton, it was a remarkable occasion seeing how the event has matured, attracting almost 120,000 people through the gates. #beefaustralia #agriculture #australianfarming
