Ensign InfoSecurity was recently invited to deliver an expert briefing at the first session of the United Nations' "Intersessional meeting of Open Ended Working Group on Securing the use of Information and Communication Technologies" held in New York on 13 May 2024. This international forum focuses on shaping global cybersecurity norms, and principles guiding responsible state behaviour. Gaurav Keerthi, Ensign's Head of Advisory and Emerging Business, shared his insights on the following topics:   • Supply chain attacks targeting open-source code and network infrastructure are increasing. • AI is a double-edged sword for cybersecurity, empowering defenders but also enabling attackers. • Ransomware attacks are evolving and will remain a national security threat • State-supported hacktivism is a dangerous trend and raises ethical and legal concerns. • Technology bifurcation is a worrying trajectory that may lead to global digital fragility inadvertently.   These highlights were extracted from Ensign’s Cyber Threat Landscape Report 2024. They are observations and analyses to help enterprises, sectors, and nations make more informed decisions to navigate the complexities of the cybersecurity landscape. Congratulations to the team at MITRE Engenuity Center for Threat-Informed Defense on their successful inaugural MITRE Asia Pacific ATT&CK Workshop in Singapore! We were thrilled to have Ensign InfoSecurity's Head of Cyber Transformation, Ruihong Zhou, present at the Lightning Talks session on 26 April 2024. His topic, "Applying a Threat-Informed Approach for Fit-for-Purpose Cybersecurity Target Maturity Setting for Organisations," emphasised the limitations of compliance-based cyber defence and highlighted the need for a threat-informed strategy. He discussed how a Sun Tzu-inspired approach, "Know thy enemy, know thyself," can help organisations tailor cybersecurity investments to their specific risks. By adopting threat profiling and intelligence, organisations can align cybersecurity controls with the NIST framework, guiding strategic planning, Red Team assessments, and threat hunting. As the first organisation headquartered in Singapore to become a Research Sponsor of MITRE Engenuity CTID, Ensign underscores its commitment to contributing to the cybersecurity community. Our goal is to co-develop advanced cybersecurity solutions to help businesses tackle the evolving threat landscape. This commitment extends to enhancing our services, including Cyber Maturity Assessment, Simulation Exercises, Intel-led Red Teaming, and Incident Response. Thanks to Jonathan Baker, Mike Cunningham, Suneel Sundar, Denise Davenport for organising this and for the opportunity to speak.
