What you could get instead of Michael’s trams?

Michael Wood has proposed spending $14.6 billion on trams to – so around $30,000 per household. The Taxpayers' Union has calculated what else you could spend that money on:

  • Every house in Whanganui
  • A second Waitematā Harbour crossing
  • Four new motorways
  • Ten new Hospitals
  • 540 flag referenda

They also calculate the cost being:

  • $608,000,000 per kilometre
  • $608,000 per metre
  • $6,080 per centimetre
  • $7,978 for every Kiwi household from Kaitaia to the Bluff

Yes Labour are proposing something that will cost over $6,000 per centimetre – and all with your money!
