HCLTech has been a longstanding partner of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and has attended AWS re:Invent for ten years. During this time, the relationship between us—the IT transformation partner—and the hyperscaler has evolved and continued to deliver transformative, and increasingly industry-focused, cloud services to a host of clients across a variety of industries.

Commenting on the relationship, Prabhakar Appana, Global Head of the AWS Ecosystem Business Unit for HCLTech, says: “We now have an established business unit with business development, alliances, technical architecture, training and enablement and a solutions-focused team, who provide end-to-end offerings.”

This year, AWS re:Invent—taking place between November 28th and December 2nd—arrives at a significant moment in the history of our company. It is the first major event where we are a gold sponsor with a larger participation than ever before, since our brand transformation and new mission-focus of Supercharging Progress.

“We are looking forward to discussing our brand transformation and our renewed mission in the context of digital engineering and cloud,” says Appana.

A forum for innovation

“AWS re:Invent is the biggest, most comprehensive and vibrant event in cloud computing. It is, without doubt, a forum for innovation,” explains Appana.

In his view, it has moved beyond a conference and serves as a meeting point for the cloud community, where old friends and new can collaboratively discuss large scale transformations, innovation, design thinking, the art of possible in terms of cloud adoption and the future of cloud transformation.

Over the five days, clients, partners and providers will connect, collaborate, network and innovate in an environment that Appana calls “a unique experience”.

“From an HCLTech perspective I'm very excited, because we have lined up several industry differentiating solutions and services in the cloud, across IoT, SAP, data analytics, cybersecurity, engineering, 1PLM for manufacturing, mainframe modernization and more, which we will share with our partners and clients at the event,” he continues.

Compared to previous years, the number of services that can now be enabled on the cloud have increased significantly—the convergence of cloud adoption and next generation technologies, such as private 5G, robotics, IoT and serverless computing, to name but a few, has accelerated and opened the door to pioneering innovations.

“The focus on sustainability has also driven cloud and IT service providers to develop innovative solutions that help clients deliver their ESG agendas,” adds Appana.

How cloud conversations have evolved

AWS re:Invent has always been about learning, sharing collective experiences and being inspired and motivated about how clients are embracing cloud technology to reignite their own businesses. Some things never change.

But there has been an evolution and a change of focus when it comes to technology leaders’ priorities in the cloud.

Today, technology leaders are focused on four key items: digital transformation, cloud migration and modernization, managing financial operations in the cloud and sustainability.

“Businesses are looking to accelerate their cloud transformation journeys with faster and more seamless migrations in a phased approach that links milestones with the business outcomes,” says Appana.

HCLTech has adapted to these new requirements and future-proofed our relationship with ecosystem partners, like AWS.

"We have done this by launching committed business units for our ecosystem partners. This happened one year ago with AWS in November 2021 and since then we have achieved key service delivery partner program statuses, launched some differentiating solutions in the consulting space and have recently been positioned as a leader in several AWS specific analyst ratings by Everest Group. HCLTech also became the first Indian headquartered company to join the AWS independent software vendor (ISV) Accelerate Program,” explains Appana.

AWS and HCLTech: a partnership in the clouds

Commenting on the partnership, Appana reveals: “As an AWS managed service partner, we are providing end-to-end AWS solutions to customers at any stage of their cloud journey.

“We are also a professional services partner with AWS, working on site along with AWS teams to deliver projects and achieve joint customers success stories.

“As we do this, we are also building expertise and executing a continuous modernization cloud transformation for our clients—delivering everything from strategy to execution and deployment.”

Looking ahead to re:Invent, Appana adds this “is an opportunity to reaffirm our excellent relationship with AWS, which ultimately translates to better and more innovative services for our clients, addressing their pain points and transformation ambitions”.
