Crimson Cove #1

Forgotten Magic

Rate this book
Bane Illes never smiled.
He never spoke.
But each day, that brooding wizard gave Janiver Benoit a glance.
And when she could not take another quiet stare, or the warmth that look sent over her skin, she took from Bane something he’d never give freely—one lingering, soul knocking kiss.
Ten years later, someone has stolen the one thing that keeps magic hidden from the mortals in Crimson Cove and only Janiver can recover it. But returning to her hometown means she’ll have to face the past and all the secrets she left buried there, including the one person she promised herself she’d never see again. The dangerous wizard that might make leaving Crimson Cove the last thing she wants to do.

*FORGOTTEN MAGIC was previously independently released as CRIMSON COVE. However, Eden has since sold the rights to City Owl Press and the book has been replotted, rewritten, and kicks off the new Crimson Coves trilogy which follows witch Janiver Benoit and her siblings as they try to unravel the well-hidden secrets that have destroyed their family.

Eden Butler is a writer of contemporary, fantasy, and romantic suspense novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum.

When she's not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, reads, and spends too much time in her garden perfecting her green thumb while waiting for the next New Orleans Saints Super Bowl win.

She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana.

Eden Butler tells the tale of a witch named Janiver “Jani” Benoit, whose gift is finding lost things. She had left her family and community ten years prior because of a mending event that happened between her and destined lover, Bane Illes. Bane’s memories of the mending have been blocked since her social ranking makes her not an acceptable match for him.

”Don’t go poking, Bane. Not all secrets need telling.”

Jani’s gift is needed in finding a stolen artifact that is essential to Crimson Cove. She must go home and help Bane find and restore order while covering her feelings and their insurmountable attraction and connection. The story is action packed, suspenseful and exciting. While Bane and Jani’s connection definitely makes the story.

”Why is it you? Why is it always you, Jani? What is it about you that keeps me wanting you?”

description

The author should have put more detail and explanation in world building for this magical place. I felt like I didn’t know much about these creatures and it would have helped my imagination in visually picturing Crimson Cove and how it works. Bane’s POV should have been included at some point even if it was just in the epilogue. It just felt like it was missing from the story and only could have enhanced a reader’s enjoyment. This is a fast paced, exciting read, that’s romance was well done. I'm left wondering if this will eventually become a series?

”So much better than a daydream.”

Title: Crimson Cove
Series: No
Author: Eden Butler
Release Date: 31 December, 2015
Rating: 3.5 stars - 4 stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

I love reading PNR books, but I do it rarely these days. Mostly because the newest releases in this genre don't sound good to me or if they do the authors decide to write them in 3rd POV. And I hate reading in third person (bummer!). Fortunately, Crimson Cove not only caught my attention with its premise but was written in heroine's point of view so it was not brainer that this novel I had to read.

Crimson Cove is a story about a connection of two souls - two halves of one whole. Jani and Bane knew each other for years. As children they where constantly drawn to one another - Bane always protecting Jani, Jani always thinking about Bane. As they grew so did their feelings.

“Sometimes the melding comes through a friendship so kindred that the bond is timeless, and restlessness…joining paramours can never be severed.”

Unfortunately for them they had no future together. Jani was from poor, weak coven, Bane on the other hand was from the oldest coven and was destined to become their leader. One single kiss and melding of their souls changed everything between this couple. Jani had to block Banes memories and run away from him. Ten years has passed and Jani had to come back to her hometown and go down the memory lane along with Bane.

This was really good story. It kept me interested. It has very exciting and fast plotline so I was not bored and quickly went through all of the book. The romance was incredibly sweet and filled my belly with butterflies :) I wish I could get a glimpse into Bane's mind, though.

On the other hand, I crave mystery and suspense. I love to see magical worlds full of surprises and unknown - the weirder the better. I would be more satisfied with Crimson Cove if the author decided to explain how the magical world works profusely. 50 additional pages or so of more complex world creation would not have slow the book down but would have greatly improve it. I know this is Eden Butler's first paranormal story so I'm willing to look past this obvious shortcomings.

Overall it was nice read. A solid and good PNR book. And I would definitely read more!

Two children are drawn to each other and without knowing why, they are pulled apart and watched carefully. Ten years passes and they are each trying to make their lives work, that is, until he shows up at her door needing her help.

I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Yes, at times, it felt a bit rushed and some things could've used more explaining but for a standalone book, I think E.B. did a great job.

Bane and Janiver are both witches...the problem is that he's higher born and she's lower. She doesn't really care much for that but does care about how things affect her family and this is a big one. That ends up being the very issue that drives her away and the same issue that causes her to return home to help find a magical "talisman" that is missing.

description

Janiver has a big secret...something happened between her and Bane on their last day of high school and she was forced to put a memory spell on him. He's still drawn to her but doesn't know why. As the story evolves, you learn more and more about the circumstances and the secret.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Janiver and Bane...it's very angsty. I couldn't wait to see who things would come together and I really loved all the sexual tension. I also love stories about witches and found some of the elements to be unique and refreshing.

The drama was great and I loved how it ended BUT I really wished we could've had a chapter or two of Bane's POV. I think it would've added so much depth to the story to see how he felt about things.

“Sometimes the melding comes through a friendship so kindred that the bond is timeless, and restlessness…joining paramours can never be severed.”

A little hard and confusing to get into at first-- with all of the new magic concepts and explanations of who and what is what-- I REALLY LOVED this fresh, innovative, and out of the box concept of a modern romance with a dark, ethereal twist.

As you can already guess, this is a supernatural read-- with wizards&witches and different types of shifters involved in the mix, and I have to say, it was a hell of a lot different from other paranormal romance reads I’ve come across thus far, which is one hell of a huge accomplishment for Eden’s first venture into the paranormal.

Janiver “Jani” Benoit has been bewitched with Bane Illes since before she can remember. And him vice versa. They feel a pull to each other… a magnetic tug that magnifies everytime they’re in the same room or near the other that screams, “mine!”

Only problem is, Jani is a low-class witch and Bane is the sole heir to the most powerful coven in all of Crimson Cove and is expected to marry a girl from another influential clan. They can never be together. And yet, everything inside them points that they are meant to be.

But then, Jani ran away and hid a secret, binding her and Bane’s fates together even more intricately and vastly than they could ever imagine. She wants to let go of what can never be but cannot. He wants to know what she kept from him.

Now fast forward ten years later, after a coveted magical artifact is stolen from Crimson Cove, the lines are even more blurred when Jani is called back to help retrieve it before havoc and mayhem ensue, and right of the center of it is Bane.

Can she do her job and not lose her heart?

Will she and Bane have a chance at love with heavy opposition against them? And can they embark on the spark that has never gone away no matter what distance or spell cast?

“There’s only one who’s claimed Bane Iles and we both know who that is. Don’t we?”

I would have LOVE, LOVED a Bane POV of things, and what was going on in his head, but at the same time, I loved the mysterious, enigmatic feel of what he brought to the table. I was itching to know what he knew of the past, what he felt for Jami, and his feelings toward all of the obligations he has stacked under his belt. It was definitely a conundrum of expectations to live up to.

As for Jani. I really felt her character laid everything on the line and more. She did what she had to do because she thought it was for the better of everyone. She is strong, level headed, extremely self less, and isn’t one of those whiny characters you want to strangle. She is sympathetic in every aspect of what she says and does.

All in all, a wonderful standalone that will entrance you and captivate you from start to finish!! I cannot stress how much I enjoyed reading this! #oneclicknow

I don't know how to rate it! I don't know how to feel about it I don't know anything!! I'm confused as hell I enjoyed it so much, the writing was fantastic but the transition between memories and the present was confusing I don't know I want to give the love story and the swoony hero 5 stars but the execution was messed UP and confusing. Damn it could have been soooo good it still is good and I loved it and I would reread it but I'd be scared to recommend it. :( I want the author to go through it again and make it better. It gave me nostalgic feelings and so much love but I DONT KNOW.

I read this book by chance, as it happened to have the same title of a UF I was looking for. But what a difference. This was a very nice surprise, a romance that had substantial weight in the UF setting. (The other title was utterly flat, as this was not.)

I finished reading this a few days ago, I've found it difficult just what to write for this review. I will try to put to words just how WICKED this book was. 'Crimson Cove' is my first ever Eden Butler book, shocking yes I know, but what a start for me. I went in very unsure what to expect & within the first chapter I was enthralled with Janiver & Bane. From the very start I became addicted to what I was reading, I do FLOVE paranormal books & 'Crimson Cove' just added to my paranormal genre addiction!

This book was filled to the brim with secrets, love, family, magic, friends, betrayal, witches & so much more, if your a paranormal fan, then trust me you HAVE to read this book. I quickly fell in love with Janiver & Bane both for very different reasons, Janiver for her strength & Bane... well I can't really say without giving away the ending.

So after popping my Eden Butler virginity on 'Crimson Cove' I can honestly say I'm looking forward to what comes next & reading the books I've missed from Eden ASAP.

A story about magic and a sizzling couple! I am not a big fan of paranormal books, but if the writing is great and the characters speak to me, I turn to adore the genre.

At first I found it hard to get into the book because of the very unique writing style but once I was finally able to tell what was going on, I loved it. We get an intelligent witch and a brooding wizard. A town where magic resides and very unpredictable twists and turns! This book will take you on a wild ride.

If you want something different, then the writer of Thin Love is the one to give it to you. Do not miss this story. It’s magic!

I'm at 77% and I'm giving up.

The writing is so flowery and overly descriptive that at nearly 80% through, almost nothing at all has actually happened. The author seemed to be so concerned with with being wordy and describing every feeling and sensation yet often never bothered to note the little important details that give you an idea of where and when.

Things like a large group of people together then all of a sudden the two MCs are having a private conversation, seemingly in the middle of all these people b/c there's never any mention of them moving away or others moving or anything like that.

And it's the same with the timeline. Since it's never mentioned, it seems as if the entire 77% I read was taking place over one day. In fact, I assumed it was just one day until the author makes a vague comment about being out there for several nights. Now I have no clue.

Even if all that weren't an issue, it's still boring as fuck. Like I said, nothing happens. Yes, I didn't finish, but I prefer the plot move along throughout the book. Not start at 80%. It could also use serious, competent editing.

So, yeah, I tried. I did. But I'm not willing to keep hanging in there hoping it'll get better.

Wow. I knew Eden Butler could write contemporary romance with angst, passion, and heart touching emotions. I should've known she'd being her writing talents to paranormal romance. Crimson Cove was everything I'd hoping it be; passionate, angsty, hot, and even emotional. It was a page turner I couldn't put down.

The best thing about this book for me was Bane, Janiver, and their chemistry. The book is told from Janiver's point of view, so how we see Bane and get to know him is through her eyes and interpretations of his actions. Bane however makes things easy for her and us by being up front about what he wants. I am a huge fan of Bane's no nonsense attitude. I loved how he was with Janiver, taking care of her, and always being there when she needed him. I even liked the way he let her be herself even when he knew he might be better suited to being in control.

The attraction between them was so hot it was almost blistering. I kept wanting them to give in to it, even though they were both fighting to be noble and deal with not only the situation at hand of finding the Elam and restoring order, but also taking into account how things had changed since Jani had been gone. I loved how Bane could read Jani's emotions, and sometimes even her thoughts, but he never pushed the limits. He tried to get her to open up about what she was hiding, but he never barged through her mental barriers when he easily could have. That just mad me respect him even more.

I liked how Eden Butler introduced this alternate reality and universe in the beginning of the book, but don't go too heavy into the details. The story was really easy to follow and focused mainly on finding the missing Elam and whatever storm was brewing between Jani and Bane. I must admit I liked how even though there were numerous paranormal beings present in the book, none were perfect, even if a few believed in their superiority over others because of lineage or material possessions; all of the characters were flawed, but real, and easy to relate to. I loved seeing Jani with her siblings and learning about what had distanced her from her father and caused her to run away from home and never look back. I even loved the mystery and suspense in the story, with Jani trying to find the Elam and those responsible for taking it and causing chaos.

As much as I love her contemporary series, I would love to see more set in this world. I think there is a lot of untapped potential here and room to explore this alternate reality more. I'd love to get into Bane's head, that's for sure! I also hope she continues to write other paranormal books. Once again Eden Butler has written a fantastic tale of love, duty, honor, and courage.

I wanted to read Crimson Cove as soon as I read the synopsis and the fact that it was paranormal made me even more excited to for it! And I have to say that I've never read a paranormal romance quite like the one that Ms. Butler has written. Granted, not everything was new to me like the witches, wizards, and weres (Oh, my! I couldn't resist *grins*) but even they and pretty much everything else can't be classified as ordinary or normal. Crimson Cove is one unique story and I'm so glad I got to read it!

Well, I had a little bit of a love/hate relationship when it came to the heroine. Jani can definitely be a bada*s witch and I really loved that - it was pretty entertaining and funny to watch sometimes. I guess there was really only one thing that I wasn't too thrilled with her about, but the more I read, the more I understood her and I couldn't really blame or stay mad at her. And despite that little wrinkle I had with Jani, I actually really did like her and I loved her too!

I always liked Bane and there were a lot of things I loved about him! I loved how possessive and how protective he was, I loved his teasing, his playfulness, and even his surliness, most especially his growling, and I loved his attitude - I guess I just loved him. Although there was a reason why I said that I always liked him instead of loved and it's because I didn't really, truly fall for until he said something so awesome and perfect that he stole my heart right in that moment and nothing could have stopped it!

I normally don't put quotes in my review, but this is just one that I have to put in!

Jani: “So why would we bother if there’s a chance we’ll hurt each other?”
Bane: “Because, little witch, out of everyone in the world that will hurt me, you’re the only one worth the pain.”

OH EM GEE! Best. Answer. Ever. That line right there made this book into what I thought would only be four stars into a five star read for me! It's so beautiful and real and true that I never want to forget it and it will always be one of my favorite quotes.

Crimson Cove is one beautiful, magical, amazing read that brought tears to my eyes, made me laugh, feel giddy, and let me a experience the paranormal in a way I haven't before!

Crimson Cove is a standalone, it's told only from Jani's POV, and Jani and Bane do get their HEA!

I used to only read paranormal romance, but then I went to contemporary leaving those paranormal stories in the past. Luckily, I've come across some very talented authors writing them so the addiction has been ignited all over again, and Eden Butler was absolutely one of them who has added to it with Forgotten Magic. I don't want to get into many details since I know for a fact that going in blindly is the best way to go so you feel the absolute awe that I did. Janiver aka Jani, is a tough cookie & I loved her a ton, while Bane was that mysterious type of dude who exuded raw power. They have a big time connection to each other but didn't have a whole lot of time to just focus on it since there were those whole evil situations that they were fighting. I simply CANNOT wait for more as the descriptive genius of Ms. Butler transported me to the magical world of Crimson Cove, and I'm here for it ALL! So, hit those one click buttons to experience the magic for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

What a Wonderful first paranormal adventure for Eden Butler. There was a great mix of witches, wizards, and shifters. A lot of mystery and angst. Definitely a one click read.

Janiver and Bane go back to childhood. He was always there scaring everyone away from her with just a glance. She felt a pull to this man of few words. One day, she let her guard down and they had a moment that bound them together, but then realized it was a mistake. She was a low class witch and Bane was a first class wizard. He was to marry from another strong coven to make them stronger. So Jani binds his memory of that moment and flees.

Years later her family needs her. She must return to Crimson Cove and back to the man who has her heart. Will she be able to keep this secret from him for the greater good. One click and find out if they are successful in saving the Cove and if this romance will withstand all the obstacles before them.

I am so in love with this book and the characters. Jani is so strong and fearless. She wants to do what's best for others even if it stands in the way of her happiness. And Bane, oh my. You just have to love this man of few words. I hope there is much more paranormal to come from Eden. She nailed it!!

Crimson Cove is a new novel by Eden Butler. It is told through the main character Janiver's POV.

Ten years ago Jani left her home, Crimson Cove, to escape something she did; someone she could never have. One phone call from her brother, and an unexpected visitor, has her going back to try to save her kind and to try to save her family's name. Little does she know she herself, and the one she was never supposed to have, might be saved in the process as well.

Crimson Cove was a fantastic read! I really like going into books knowing little about them. I knew that this was a paranormal romance and I was pleasantly surprised that this had Witches and Wizards among other supernatural creatures.  Crimson Cove was filled with action, suspense, and a ton of romance. I really enjoyed all the magic and of course I really, really,  enjoyed the scenes that made me swoon. Bane was hot and sexy. Jani was a strong female character.  I loved their interactions and was rooting for them from the start. I'll leave you with one of my favorite lines:

Loneliness doesn’t come to us because we are alone. It comes because we never let anyone see who we really are.

The sexual tension between the main characters in Forgotten Magic made me devour this book. Add in a magical plotline filled with danger and suspense and you have yourself the makings of one hell of a paranormal romance!
Our main man, Bane is a towering, powerful, tattooed wizard--if that description isn’t enough to draw you in, Jani’s intimate thoughts about him certainly will. Jani doesn’t want to go back to her hometown but she’s the only person with the magical skillset needed to solve a huge problem. Once she arrives, not only is there growing tension with Bane, but her family and fellow magical citizens of Crimson Cove add their fair share of drama to the mix. This sizable cast of supporting characters is important and well-drawn but never overshadows Jani and Bane.
If you’re a fan of romances that appeal to our most primal desires, do yourself a favor and read this book now and then count your blessings that this is the first book in a series. I can’t wait for the next installment!

I have to say, I am not much for paranormal reading, but every now and then, I find one that makes me a lover of the genre. Crimson Cove is one of those books! This is Eden Butler's first paranormal novel and my first read of Butler's writing. But, I must admit that I loved every single word and I cannot wait to read more of her books!
The story of Crimson Cove is structured perfectly, giving you an absolute obsessive page turning experience. I could not put it down! Her main characters, as well as the ancillary characters, are developed and intriguing and will make readers want to jump into this world and experience it first hand.
This book is chalked full of mystery, twists and unexpected revelations. It will leave you guessing until the very last word.
If you love paranormal, this book will be your new favorite.
If you are iffy about paranormal, this book will make you a believer.
Go grab yourself a copy. You won't regret it!

Jani has to go home to Crimson Cove to help find an important artifact that was taken and will create havoc in their magical world. She hasn't been back in years because of a moment when she stole a kiss from the one she would love forever, but never have in her life. When she left Jani took his memory of that moment, but everything changes when Bain comes back into her life. She has to face the danger of her quest and also of losing herself to Bain again.

I loved Jani. She's strong and sassy and perfect for her wizard man. Bain is all alpha and can't figure out why he isn't able to get over her. I loved the characters surrounding them and hope to read more of their world.

I give Crimson Cove 4 hearts!

Secrets, deceit and lies abound in this engaging paranormal book that features the families of Crimson Cove. Janiver left the Cove ten years earlier and went to the city where she (mostly) forgot about her abilities as a witch, leaving the boy she could never have, Bane, in her wake. Ten years later when something happens in the Cove that needs Jani's unique ability to solve, she finds Bane on her doorstep.

Going home is never easy, yet Eden managed to weave an awesome story that lets the reader see what happened in the past while being engaged in the present activities of the mystical Crimson Cove. Cannot wait to see what happens next!

This book had me enthralled from the very beginning right to the end. I love the magical world Eden Butler created. And fell in love with the cast of characters, most especially Bane & Janiver. While Jani was a fascinating & a tough woman, who held secrets close to her heart, Bane was power & mystery, easy to get lost in. Their connection was inescapable and while trying to deal with that, they are looking for lost magic and evil doers and hierarchies. I totally loved this book 😍. I cant wait for more!

This was a magical story full of suspense and danger. The battle of good and evil with Bane and Jani at the front and center. The chemistry between the two burned brightly as they worked together to eradicate the problems facing them and their world. The other cast of characters surrounding them made for a well constructed book. I am looking forward to reading more!

Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done ❤️

Magically wonderful!

Wow! What a great, great read! Beautifully written, with great characters, and a well thought-out story line. I laughed, and got teary eyed. Sexy, without too much detailed sex, that still has you hot. I will read more by this author, as this is my first read by her. Great book!

I love a good paranormal romance, and for me that requires having some new twist in the world that I haven't seen before. Crimson Cove relies on elemental energy and magic as it's basis, and Eden Butler does a good job of creating a world that has an interesting twist to the rules governing wizards, witches and shifters who are the major players in this world.

The book opens with Janiver. She's on a self-imposed exile from her coven and family, for the last ten years. There are hints that this wasn't what she wanted, but something she had to do to save herself and Bane Iles, the wizard that's about to merge with another coven and become overseer of all the supernaturals in the south.

When Bane shows up at Janiver's New York doorstep to take her back to New Orleans, it's not hard to see there's going to be some trouble. Janiver is asked to return home to find the coven's sacred stone, the one that keeps the mortal humans from detecting their supernatural neighbors. It's been stolen and there are plenty of questions regarding who did the deed and why.

Clues to what happened ten years ago to make Janiver leave New Orleans are dropped like little bread crumbs along the way, and you don't really find out everything that happened until almost the end of the book and I loved that about it. There's a lot of heat between Jani and Bane along with some serious unresolved business that could take down all the covens and Jani's family, but I don't want to spoil it for you.

I thought there was a bit of unnecessary repetition on some of the world concepts that took me out of the story from time to time, which is why I cannot rate this 5 stars. Crimson Cove most definitely had the potential to be a 5 star read with a few more editing passes, I think. I liked Jani and I wanted to get to know Bane better. Since the story is told from Jani's first person point of view, I didn't feel like I got to know him well enough, although in the end, he had me smiling!

Would I read more about these characters and the world they are set in? Absolutely. I'm hoping we get stories about Jani's siblings because they were great supporting characters in Crimson Cove.

Overall, Crimson Cove is a satisfying paranormal romance that I hope will continue.

Great paranormal romance from Eden Butler! It has been a long time since I’ve read a paranormal romance, and Eden Butler made me realize how much I missed them and why I loved reading them in the first place.

Jani comes from a long line of witches in her hometown of Crimson Cove. She always had a bond with the powerful wizard Bane, but all that changed when she left her hometown and turned her back on her family and Bane after a secret threatens to tear her apart. She thinks she has put that part of her life behind her, even if she has closed her heart to love, that is, until the past shows up at her door in the form of Bane. She is needed back in Crimson Cove after something that threatens their town has happened. Will she finally be able to put the past behind her, or will this time completely destroy her?

The story moves rapidly and many secrets are revealed. I loved how the flashbacks reveal the history between Jani and Bane which illustrates how tightly bound these two individuals really are. It also helps build the characters from superficial to very complex which made me bond with them as well. By developing her characters in the way she did, she pulled me into the story and wouldn’t let me go until I finished the last page. Eden Butler’s has a gift in the way she writes…she is so descriptive in the manner she writes that I could see Crimson Cove clearly in my mind! If felt like I was there with the other citizens in town.

I am new to Eden Butler, but I do have a lot of her books on my Kindle already. Thank you, Eden Butler, for bringing me back to one of my favorite genres. Looking forward to reading more from you!

Wow. Damn. Talk about a stunning, gorgeous paranormal romance. I'm in awe of this book and certain that this is one of those rare stories that will stay with me for a long, long time.

I was spellbound by Forgotten Magic from the first page onward and couldn't put it down. The lush, lyrical prose hooked me instantly, becoming inextricably bound with the emotional heartbeat of the story thanks to Ms. Butler's supreme mastery of the craft. Every element pulsed in captivating tandem, from the exemplary writing to the mysterious, intriguing elements of the plot and the cast of characters, each one with many layers to uncover. Through unique world building that is also accessible and expertly woven in with the storyline, Ms. Butler excels at drawing her reader into her fascinating world.

The chemistry between Bane and Jani is red-hot, shot through with perfectly delicious angst and a compelling backstory that leaves you no choice but to root for them and their HEA. As the story progresses, the stakes are raised, drawing the couple deeper into a web of intrigue that tests them mightily while allowing their strengths to shine. Descriptions are sexy, vivid, and all-around perfect.

I would recommend Forgotten Magic to anyone who loves to be transported to sumptuous magical settings rich with romance.

4.5 stars!

A story of secrets, deceit, love and family that will keep you on the edge of your seat! This is my first Eden Butler book and I absolutely loved it! It’s a fast paced paranormal story with plenty of action and suspense. I loved both Jani and Bane and couldn’t help but hope they ended up together. They have awesome chemistry and just fit perfectly with each other.

Ten years ago, Jani’s father coerced her into doing something that she didn’t want to do by convincing her it was “the right thing to do” for the Cove. She couldn’t handle the daily reminders that would be present if she had remained in Crimson Cove so she ran to the big city and all but shunned her magical heritage. When her family falls on hard times and the Cove has an emergency that only she can solve, she returns to do her duty. She just wasn’t counting on the fact that she would be working for Bane, the man she ran from 10 years ago. He’s the powerful wizard that is next in line to take over the most powerful family in the Cove and he’s never forgotten Jani. He’s determined to find out why she ran.

Can they overcome the obstacles that have been placed in their way?

Well for her first paranormal book I have to say Eden Butler did an awesome job. I have to say I've missed reading paranormal books and Eden's managed to pull me right back into the wonderful world of magic and wares . The story takes place in Crimson Cove and is of two lovers who should not be or so the Elders of the Covens say. Janiver/ Jani and Bane have had chemistry since they were young but he's destined to be clan leader and she's... well... not even close to the same class. Jani finds herself back in the Cove after 10 years of being away to help save her families crashing business by hunting down the Elam (the stone that keeps the non magic folks from seeing all the magical stuff that goes on). Oh and who do you think hires her to find it? Yes Bane. Dun Dun Dunnnnn... The tension between these two is just WOW. I'm not sure what to say except that I enjoyed this book very much. The chemistry, the mystery and even the smartassery that is Janiver Benoit was fantastic. If Eden was to write more about the Cove I would definitely hit the pre-order button. Maybe we can get a book on Mai or Sam.
