The new ice cream perfumes from Salt & Straw are designed to be spritzed on your dessert - but can also be used as personal fragrances.
Salt & Straw believes that ice cream is essentially scentless because of its necessarily super low temperature, and this is a way to add another layer of sensory appreciation to your experience.
On the menu are three flavours to try, and the brand promises that using each will not change the flavour you're tasting but rather enhance your ice-cream eating experience.
Ice Cream Perfume For Your Dessert, Anyone?
Of the three flavours, A Swoon of Citrus is juicy and comes with hints of key lime pie, lychee and lemon. Mimicking the smell and vibe of a bakery, Cloud of Cocoa has notes of chocolate and malted milkshake, while the jasmine and honeysuckle in A Plume of Blooms bring late Spring to mind.
The ice cream perfumes will be launched on July 17, National Ice Cream Day in the USA. If you are in the States, you need to put yourself on a waitlist. How are the perfumes priced? Well, if you get yourself a spritz at a Salt & Straw retail location, it will cost you 50 cents. A travel-sized three pack of each scent will set you back $ 48, while $ 65 will get you a 65 ml bottle.
Devilled Egg Ice Cream!
Incidentally, Salt & Straw is known for innovation, though its latest summer menu of ice creams has received a mixed response. The Picnic Collection includes slightly incongruous flavours such as Cinnamon & Honey Fried Chicken and Devilled Egg Custard With Smoked Black Tea, and Baked Brie & Fig Cheesecake.
