Our partnership with Cawthron Institute offers postgraduate students the chance to work with New Zealand’s largest independent science organisation and be part of a professional team of researchers making a difference for our environment.
Based in the city of Nelson in the South Island, Cawthron Institute delivers world-class science that helps to protect the environment and support the sustainable development of primary industries in New Zealand and worldwide.
Researchers at Cawthron have a passion for aquatic ecosystems and are working hard to apply science to improve outcomes for freshwater, estuarine and marine environments.
The Joint Graduate Centre with Cawthron provides an exciting opportunity for post-graduate students to share in this approach to environmental research, by leading their own exciting research projects as part of the Cawthron team and with wider support from the University of Auckland.
In particular, Cawthron Institute has extensive facilities and expertise for progressing research and innovation in aquatic sciences, that cover a range of disciplines including aquaculture, remote sensing, bioactives, hydrodynamics and chemistry.
Cawthron is renowned for its tailored and effective scientific support for the needs of Māori, industry and government agencies.
