Sport Wales has launched a brand-new strategy for delivering sport to Wales. It’s an exciting and interesting read. The clear intention is to make sport accessible and available to everyone, everywhere.

The Welsh Sport Safeguarding Hub
Laura Whapham and Cerri Dando from the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit and I continue to staff the Safeguarding Hub.
We have had an encouraging meeting with one of the statutory agencies to further develop the message. There is a clear need for joint working between sports and authorities. We will keep you updated as things develop further.

A reminder of ‘The Hub’s’ objectives:
- To provide safeguarding advice and guidance to individuals or organisations and in particular sport NGBs
- To raise the profile of sport safeguarding, particularly with statutory agencies.
- To work with sport NGBs to achieve CPSU/Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Standards.
- To signpost agencies to Lead Safeguarding Officers within Sport NGBs.
Free Safeguarding Adults in Sport Training
On the 30th of April, I delivered the first of two free inputs on safeguarding adults in sport.
The second date is the 5th of September, and I am delighted to see that this date is now also fully booked.
Such is the demand that I have organised one further date. It’s on Monday the 7th of October at the Sport Wales National Centre. Sport NGBs can send two attendees to any one of the dates free of charge. But please book all places in advance, as these events tend to fill up!

Sport NGB Adults at Risk Policy
The Ann Craft Trust has built a new and free downloadable template for Sport NGBs, or anyone else for that matter, to access and use as their own.
Each of the four Home Nations has differing legislation regarding Adults at Risk. So we have built a template to incorporate all four pieces of legislation.
The document is designed to be edited so that it can be made bespoke to each NGB. For example, if an NGB covers England and Wales, the template could be reduced to just those pieces of legislation.

I am particularly grateful to Bowls Wales who assisted in the development of the new template. They were one of the first in Wales to publish their updated procedures. Take a look!
A number of other sport NGBs have this completed or in development. A huge thank you to those who have already completed this work. All sports have a duty of care to those within their structure. So please work toward creating and embedding this important policy within your areas of business.
