Three waters dilutes co-governance says candidate
A Ngāi Tahu wahine running for the Masterton mayoralty says the Three Waters infrastructure reform isn’t a good deal for iwi.
Tina Nixon, who is currently a district councillor, says she has the experience to drive continued growth in the district.
That includes supporting the aspirations of local iwi and Māori.
She says a submission from Rangitane to the select committee looking at Three Waters echoed her concerns over co-governance.
“It’s co-governance but not co-governance as we know it, so it’s not going to give them a seat at the table like they’re used to,” Ms Nixon says.
