Nairobi, 11 August 2020 – UN-Habitat has extended the deadline for the Call for Expression of Interest to cities wishing to host the 2024 Twelfth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) to 30 November 2020.

The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the world’s premier conference on urban issues. It is a non-legislative technical forum which has been convened by UN-Habitat since 2002. The WUF brings together participants to discuss and readdress the way cities and human settlements are planned, designed, financed, developed, governed and managed.   The inclusive nature of the WUF, combined with high-level participation, makes it a unique United Nations conference and the foremost global arena for interaction among policymakers, local government leaders, non-government organizations and expert practitioners and is held in a different host city and country every two years.

The UN-Habitat World Urban Forum Coordination Office can be contacted on  unhabitat-wuf12bid@un.org.

The potential hosts will be provided with the bidding package and guidelines. The WUF12 selected host city/country will be announced during the Global Observation of World Habitat Day on 4 October 2021.
