30% support the protestors?!?! – How did Jacinda’s neokindness lose the lumpenproletariat?

If Labour had done something transformational on poverty, housing and inequality there wouldn't be a mass of anger for the far right to exploit!

Parliament protest: New poll shows 30 per cent of Kiwis support anti-mandate protest

As the nation’s capital braces itself for more days – or even weeks – of protests, a new poll has found that 30 per cent of New Zealand supports the protest, while 61 per cent oppose the occupiers and 9 per cent don’t know.

According to a Horizon Research snap poll obtained exclusively by Stuff, while a comfortable majority of the population supports both vaccine mandates and does not support the Parliamentary precinct squatters, the 30 per cent level of support will be a shock for many in the Government and its fellow travellers.

So according to middle class marxists in Labour, 30% of the country are Nazis?

This spectrum of working class dispossessed on Parliament’s lawn, the ones who have borne the harshest yoke of vaccine mandates economically and socially, they have had their misery harvested by Far Right Steve Bannon inspired propaganda and Qanon mysticism, of that there can be no doubt.

But while their pain may be self inflicted and emotionally manipulated by the Far Right, it is the reality that they have been left behind economically…

Wealthy nearly $1 trillion richer since Covid began – Hickey

An economic and political commentator says since the Covid-19 pandemic reached Aotearoa, the rich have become richer and the poor have become poorer – in part due to the Government’s policies.

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

The middle class woke who have benefited from their work from home privilege refuse point blank to legitimise those working class pains on Parliament’s lawns because it challenges their very own privilege.

25 000 are waiting ion emergency housing wait lists, 210000 children live in poverty, 50 000 households live in poverty and entire generations have been locked out of home ownership.

The lumpenproletariat may not have the education to understand how they are getting fucked, (far right media steps in and provides that intellectual framework), but they are getting fucked and their incandescent rage is now finally here.

If Labour had done something transformational on poverty, housing and inequality there wouldn’t be a mass of anger for the far right to exploit!

What did Labour do? They enriched property speculators, banned capital gains tax and have agreed to middle class unemployment/holiday perks that will cost billions.

The need to paint these protestors as Nazi monsters is driven by an urgency to discredit their legitimacy so that these questions of screwing over the poor are never asked of Jacinda’s NeoKindness.

  1. 1. All Jacinda cares about and what she really listens to is polls.

    2. NZ has set a new record in housing unaffordability. One of many undesirable housing record under Labour!

    3. No matter how you look at it the vaccine mandates were always going to be short lived. The first two vaccinations are only as good as the booster and I can see we aren’t going to continue to shoot up every three months. Buy in is waining amongst non conspiracy theorists too.

    4. The more the protest goes on the more we realise our government have no real control when they need it. The police have proven they’re really are only as effective as security guards because that is the kind of police Labour wanted.

    5. The message this beams out to everyone else is crystal clear, the state have no bite, just a woofy disinterested bark. So it brings carte blanche to anyone who wants to challenge the states authority.

It is almost comedy how this governments actions on so many things have had so many opposite reactions.

It looks like they just have no idea what they’re doing!

    • some good points there xray…and an ineffectual state is a small step from a failed state,,ask the brits or the yanks.

    • Actually, XRAY’s points are all rubbish.

      1. Anyone who says “Jacinda only cares about polls” is lying to themselves. Here’s a Prime Minister who locked down society and paid out money to keep businesses afloat, when the easy way out would have been to do a National and say “We can’t shut borders and lock people down because…the economy!” She took the hard decisions because she cared about people more than money, and that took cahones. But it paid off. Under National we’d have had a lot more deaths and would business have done that much better?

      2. And sure, under National we’d have been a whole lot better right? Remind me what house prices were doing under Key again? Housing is hard, undoubtedly. You can’t click your fingers and fix it overnight. But the right’s always been saying the prices rising were all about shortage of supply, and now we’ve got record consents and record building going on. So prices should start to correct. Correct?

      3. The vaccine mandates were never going to be permanent. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t affective right now. We as a country are easing ourselves from a position of no omicron in the community to a position of widespead omicron in the community, and the whole point of all the measures currently in place is to prevent a rapid spike in cases that overwhelms the health sector. Unvaccinated poeple in jobs that require interaction with large numbers of people each day will exacerbate the virus spread and is counter to the objective. If you think the vaccine is not effective, then you haven’t been listening to the experts. And that’s the biggest contributor to this whole kerfuffle. Everybody with social media is now an expert epidemiologist. LEAVE IT TO THE REAL EXPERTS.

      4. The Government – by design – has no control over policing protests. Because then you put yourself in a position where you might be tempted to abuse the power of the state.

      5. Nice summary of your world view. I don’t share it.

      • If you don’t think Jacinda poll watches to guide her decisions then your are quite happy to accept Elvis is about this go on stage at the protest. Why do you think there is a lag between an issue and a solution?
She wants to be re-elected and she loves being popular. She lets the polls guide her. I have seen no evidence of that Prime Minister having a bottom line on anything. Key did it, any professional lifer politician does it.

Housing is a farce under Labour. It has gone off the scale for the bad records under them. It’s astounding anyone is left to apologise for their inaction and ineptitude and their casual acceptance that this is the way it is. And yes National were shit but they didn’t pretend to care like these charlatans!

And what is happening in Wellington is now out of control. The police have walked away saying they want to de-escalate the situation. Vis a vis “Do Nothing”. This is classic of the police nowadays and I suppose they’re at least consistent, it’s what the public had this accept from them on a daily basis.

They think they’ve been de-escalating for the entirety and the protesters seized upon that as weakness and yet it is obviously escalating and police just gave them a blank cheque. Anything goes from now on in. That the take away on this show! Cos the police ain’t going to front anything. The protesters own the police!

What must the public be thinking watching this shitshow?

        • give the numpties an inch and they’ll build a refugee camp
          …but it’s a done deal now.
..hope the top cop has a good severance deal in his contract cos he’s gonna be the sacrificial lamb in this, not the pollies

    • At least jacinda and Labour with the advice of experts /scientists have saved you and me and all the other grumpy old men. National and Act have been doing their own research since Covid arrived and yes NZ has a moat around it (Seymore) to stop covid from swimming across from Australia and been lucky – LUCKY the Natzact coalition wasn’t leading the covid response.

      • No disagreement there, by fate or design a lot of lives were saved by the actions so far. My point was the mandate to be vaccinated or else has a used by date of about 6 months after your booster. It’s not as though the vaccine is permanent . So what do the government do then?

  2. Why is it necessary to look beyond the very real issues that these people are facing to some other outside influences? Why not just deal with what is immediate and obvious?
    D J S

    • Absolutely right David, in both senses of the word. You write of “Outside influences”, but many of us here believe that National and ACT and Dirty Politics 4.0

I’ve never seen such utter rabbit/rabid-hole rubbish and QAnon QUackery than on COUNTERSPIN https://counterspinmedia.com/resources-videos/

I’ve never seen such vile, threatening and nastiness in the form of threat and Hatespeech as I have on NUREMBERG NZ https://www.nuremberg.nz/

More right wing gobshite on BFD, claiming to be ‘Your One Source of Truth’
      https://thebfd.co.nz/

You know what they all have in Common NatzAct, NACT, National and ACT, Hollow Men 4.0, Dirty Politics 4.0.

Leave the deluded rentacrowd protestors where they are and start following the money back to the source of all this vile, bilious right-wing vitriol and hatespeech.

Worst or best thing National did was sideline Judith Collins and her BFD Mate and garbage purveyor Cam Slater (sic).

Now we have all these nasties, who want their own freedom, but won’t allow businesses to open for trade.

This nasty Freedom and Rights Coalition have the freedom to protest, but the people of Cranmer Square have the right to enjoy a peaceful right to live without squalor, noise pollution and intimidation.

These nasty Christchurch protestors have the right to protest outside their own homes because Brian Tamaki’s tithe income has been dented by no-vaccine-no-work mandates.

Brian Tamaki has the right to protest by going on a hunger strike at his own mansion, which because of the pandemic is probably worth three times the $1.58 million he paid in 2017

      https://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/98196636/destiny-churchs-brian-and-hannah-tamaki-move-into-15m-luxury-home

The woman protestor parked in a handicapped parking spot, in Wellington who will only move if needed.

The Maori matua, who was more concerned by a conspiracy theory, about the third tower of the 9/11 disaster, having been bombed.

The Hollow Men and Dirty Politics 4.0 Convoy of Hate has become a magnet for every hater, QAnoner and conspiracy theorists.

How dare they intimidate people in Wellington wearing masks; how dare they restrict trade for hard-working businesses; and terrorise our freedoms around Cranmer Square. How dare they threaten our Prime Minister, Health Leaders and Politicians. Time to follow the money, cut off the funding and expose who’s really behind this convoy of hate

Let the SIS and the GSSB loose to follow the money that is funding these nutters, these rent-a-crowd of haters inspired by the NatzActers.

  3. It would be interesting to clarify what “support for the protesters” means. Like many who have been expressing their frustration with government inaction on povidy issues, I am deeply sad for the situation as you describe it. I wouldn’t say I support the protesters but do empathise with them.
I also oppose mandates. The reason should now be perfectly obvious even to all the boosted pious ones.
A newsletter from The Cooperative bank yesterday told me the staff had been mandated which I find upsetting. It’s coercion and takes away the inalienable right to choose.

  4. Look even one nazi is one too many for any one to associate with and expect to maintain some credibility.

It is correct that since 1984, Chicago School economics–dog eat dog–and diminished union power and collectivism has created this awful situation of an underclass and ever growing inequality. And middle class kids with huge student loans and extortionate rents for dumps. If people had been housed and given free dental, Wifi to fix the digital divide, and not made debtors for scummy motels by MSD/WINZ then the mun-tariat might not be supporting the the right wing scum behind the Wellington occupation.

I have actively protested since the 70s on an incredible range of issues and causes, often being in a tiny minority, that sometimes grew to a majority like homosexual law reform and Nuke Free, but do not support the Wellington traffic jam because it is undermining the public health campaign against COVID. These shit heads want the freedom to impact on my ability to be COVID free.

The other thing, I know some of the people involved and some of the 5G/anti vaccination/sovereign citizen lot from Tai Tokerau and they are fucking munters that do not like the state involved in their lives what so ever. Licenses, healthcare, Census, firearms, home schooling you name it. Rude, unpleasant people to avoid and many in the community do, the COVID regulations have just sent some of them over the edge.

  5. The longer parliamentary political parties leave it to publicly engage in some way, the more the influence of Cameron Slater and Counterspin Media grows. The battleground has been yielded to right wing influence by default. Some parties think they’re better than the people out front of parliament, and call them a lot of names that prove it. Who benefits?

    • Agree Richard Mc.
Had the Labour Government kept to its election promises this demonstration would not be taking place.

        • And how many lies is it that your beloved John Key told while in power Goebbels Jeremy
          433? 43y?435
And how could we tell when John Key wasn’t lying?
          When his lips weren’t moving

    • Don’t be silly. These people/media are nothing. Just like Destiny Church and Billy TK before them. This is all the direct result of government Covid measures, especially mandates. And many countries are protesting the same government actions, with the only other tie in being the ‘convoy’ idea. There ain’t no Cameron Slater of Counter Media at the forefront of those protests.

It is just ordinary people fed up with what amounts to government overreach of their lives. The Canadian Convey has led the charge, interesting enough, over 80% of the truckers involved are vaccinated….

    • indeed lab have to do something, anything to attempt to address NZs many many problems inaction and PR just don’t cut it anymore.

  6. I participate in this poll.  In the “do you have any comments” section at the end I gave the view that pollsters really ought to be more careful with their questions.

The questions did not seek views on the appropriateness of the policies across time or covid variants, occupations or other targeted groups, or probe anything on testing alternatives.

For me, some kind of medical mandate might be justifiable in principle at the right time.  But not this mandate, not with this therapy for this ailment, not with these opaque leaders and with the appalling process which passed it all. The cost to our future ability to deal with pandemic circumstances is a big casualty here.

This kind of stuff is precisely the kind of discussion the government will not brook.

One can understand the desire for simple answers at this time, but one can equally imagine the Stuff editorial room eagerly awaiting a “look… we’re right!!! …see!!”  moment in response to an overly-simple question.

We are mugs if we seriously engage with this poll result.

  7. 30% doesn’t count much in a democracy it didn’t for the referendum when 1.4 million voted to legalise cannabis and that is a lot of people. And now I see we have rich pricks like Russel Coutts joining the bandwagon. This is a man who was happy to take millions of NZ tax payers money for his elite sailing campaigns. And a man who is taking more water than his fair share for his own private golf course. He wreaks of entitlement and he has a bloody cheek to moan about Maori privilege when he and his ilk have been fleecing our taxes for many years to pay for their luxury sailing.

    • 60 of 64 councils opposed 3 waters, that’s 94%, does that count in a democracy?
      Not to this sham government.

      • I thought the march was about vaccination mandates not 3 waters. But nobody owns the water so who said the council owns the water its not there’s it never was and many have been doing a lousy job, hell look at the urban and rural rivers and waterways they are in a state.

        • “I thought the march was about vaccination mandates not 3 waters.”

And thus no one, not one person can take them seriously.
I suggest they show ta video of what’s happening in Hong Kong right now. The best thing for a simple outcome would be for Omicron/ Delta to run through the commune.

          • Convoy of Hate has become a magnet for all the disaffected: the conspiracy theorists; Brian Tamaki losing tithe income because his Density Flockers have only one God telling them what to do, and that is him; Groundswell aka farmers wanting to own the rain and rivers; white supremacists travelling for an alleged ‘public execution’. Did I miss any Jeremy? Noch andere Verrückte neue Kraut? How about you X-Ray – see any other with those X-Ray eyes? Oh yes, some nutter Karen wanting to park her car in a disabled car-parking spot, ‘until needed’. Freedom for protestors, but not for the disabled.

Convoy 2022 – a caravan of nutters, haters, self-obsessed, racists, farmers conspiracy theorists and disabled-car-park law-breakers.

            • Add Bg to that list, he take his source of information from the voices in his head, given he is too tired to research anything.

    • 70+% voted against selling power co’s, Key ignored the referendum and sold them anyway. His reason, “we were elected into Government so we have a mandate to do so”.
So keep up the anti mandate protest like you did with the selling of SOE’s under National…oh wait?

  9. I thought the march was about vaccination mandates not 3 waters. But nobody owns the water so who said the council owns the water its not there’s it never was and many have been doing a lousy job, hell look at the urban and rural rivers and waterways they are in a state.

  10. Wait till cases start pilling up and people and their families can’t have heart surgery or cancer treatment because we’re busy keeping antivax alive. When shelves are empty because factories are closed. NZ hasnt had the experience other countries have had and once we do once you can’t get an ambulance for an od cos hospitals are full. There will be no sympathy for this lot. The reason for these restrictions was to keep as much pressure as possible off the health department.

These are the people who attack and spit on working class min wage workers everyday.

This is not a working class thing in the slightest. This screams middle class entitlement if anything. The working class are at work and don’t have the money to travel to wellington for two weeks and certainly wouldn’t risk their vehicle which is their livlihood being towed. Look at that village the supplies, the gear, the tents that’s not a working class protest it’s better stocked than most working class homes.

When did upper middle class Karen’s who think yoga cures COVID and their dread locked daughters named Saigon who are mad they couldn’t take acid and e at summer drug festivals, paranoid schizophrenics, Maori nationalists national front members become the working class? It’s a coalition of weirdo contradictions whose only commonality is they don’t believe in science, health, journalism, civil servants and most of them think we have four year terms and they personally elect the pm.

These people disrupt working class people on their way to work.

Are disrupting students and threatening mp offices who are staffed by normal people.

They sound like my friends mum who thought the toaster was threatening her and her dentist was spying on her through her fillings a good chunk of them should be in asylums

I feel so bad for their kids, this is wilful child endangerment, I loads of actual working class people who have lost custody of their kids for far less than having them illegally camped out in the rain around lunatics at a site that could erupt into a violent riot at any second.

As an actual working class person who has to deal with the feral psychos screaming at us every day because they can’t come in unmasked or without a passport. I hope they all get COVID and the army forces a quarantine fence around them for several weeks and they can’t leave.

    Would be hilarious.

    • Well put Corey.

On some of my posts on FB u get the usual oh they must be all dole bludgers etc.

These protesters are mainly all middle class w……kers.

Who refuse to accept the consequences of their choices.

Only have to read the spinoff breakdown of who is behind it all to see that .

Most of them are anti authority type parties .

The mandates were just the excuse.

    • Comment of the day. I too work right by this rats nest. Keyboard Warriors going on about dispossessed and poverty stricken workers – lots of Ford Rangers parked up amongst that lot.

    • Thank you Corey Humm. Finally some sense spoken in this crazy forum of rag-bag political weirdos and reactionaries. Most of the commentaries on this blog now seem to be from people who should really be down there with those lunatics. How refreshing to find one who isn’t and sees this garbage for what it is.

    • This is not a working class thing in the slightest. This screams middle class entitlement if anything. I hope people read and re-read that a few times.

“certainly wouldn’t risk their vehicle which is their livelihood being towed.” – Exactly!!

    • I do feel for the Wellingtonians being harassed by the protesters, I really do. Almost as much as I feel for the Housing corp tenants who under this Govt have had to put up with, for years, anti social tenants who threaten, abuse and harass them while the government refuses to evict these anti social types. It’s still going on

  11. Jacinda always implies that if the majority want something it is “what kiwis want” so it is right and everything else is either wrong or irrelevant. This means that when Labour are soon in opposition as the majority voted for the other party then they should follow their own rules and just shut the fuck up and fuck off under a rock.

      • Like that other racist Alt Righter Trump? Similar scenarios all over the world and New Zealand now @ No biggy and bert. The election was rigged! We want freedom! Elect rich idiots because they have been successful, just like John Key, just like Trump and just like Chris Luxon!

Problem is, when they get into power, the first thing they do is to cut taxes for their rich mates and sell off any remaining state assets and raise GST. GST hurts the poor.

We are already being softened up by the right trying to get the Tory Tax Brackets introduced here in NZ. Natz had Tory speakers at their retreat in QT!

Links to Key’s lies #27 and 28 re GST https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2016/06/04/435-lies-by-john-key/

        27. I won’t raise GST
28 people who are on the average wage and have a child are $48 a week better off after the rise in GST

Britain’s VAT (GST) is 20%. National won’t do it directly, they’ll get a patsy like Lee Harvey Oswald (David Seymour) to do it, just before he retires “for personal reasons” and Russell Coutts takes over as ACT leader.

Let them have their National Party and ACT parties in power. The Convoy of Haters will all be drinking their own piss under a NACT alliance, because nobody will be able to afford anything else to drink.

      • I volunteer to be that poll and my result is…..
        (drumroll please)
        overwhelmingly ‘coutts in an asshole’
and a turncoat asshole at that.

        • Turncoat Coutts lost respect ditching Team New Zealand, but worse was peeing into a leeward wind and drinking his own urine, like Captain Rum in the Blackadder episode.

So, he won’t be out of place at the Convoy of Hate protest, who all seem to be taking the piss.

    • Actually I regularly do the horizon poll .

All you have to do is sign up on the horizon website and get the monthly email.

  12. I would say more support.I would also say a lot of people have been pushed and bribed into having the injection.

  13. I would say more support.I would also say a lot of people have been pushed and bribed into having the injection.

  14. First, they refuse to give easy access to medical cannabis and are willing to put people in prison for it. Then they’re willing to ostracize people for not shooting the government’s drug of choice into their bodies. Maybe if they let people make their own decisions across the board, they might find the last 10% of the country willing to follow medical advice.

At the moment, the complete lack of a consistent drug policy is pathetic and its damaging this country.

    • MEDICAL CANNABIS do me favour…you just wanna get baked, nowt wrong with that…and that’s all the justification cannabis reform needs…the medical argument though very real for some, panders to ‘the please give us a concession school’ but ‘I wanna get fucked up’ is argument enough, in and of itself….let’s face it the entire alcohol industry rests on that very thesis.

  15. People have been push and bribed and shut up sake of our health.I would say 70per sounds better than 30per. And while our minds are on this , what else is going on….

  16. Fcuk the whatsyoumacallits….its just a protest by ordinary Kiwis. Strangely enough, its ruffling the feathers of more than just the group they are protesting against. Telling.

  17. I took a poll of 100 acquaintances, 5 were pro protest all of them are damaged goods in need of therapy.
That is 5 %, more or less accurate, nationally I would suggest. Dogs, tazers and tow trucks please.

    • Martyn please fix this comments section, there is an echo in here.

Must be from Russell Coutts coming back from Switzerland. Opportunist Swiss with their Nazi gold and stolen fine art. Sometimes it pays to join the other side, no matter how abhorrent the rewards, to swallow a dead rat and drink your own urine, if the price is right.

BTW Q1 Has Russell signed into the Nuremberg site https://www.nuremberg.nz/ and voted for his favourite politician to be executed? This would be a good question for one of the patsy media to ask him in front of the rabid mob, at the Convoy Site? Q2 Which Dirty Politics 4.0 NatzAct politician offered Russell a safe National Party seat in exchange for his visit? Q3 Is Couttsie ACT Party’s new leader-in-waiting, when David Seymour cannot dance any more?

BTWWQ4 Will Russell be living in a tent at Parliament grounds and pissing by the Cenotaph?
Q5 And after a few photo-ops at the protest to help boost his golf course, will Russell sail into the Intercontinental?
