2 children killed, 2 injured in Idlib by war remnants

IDLIB, Syria (North Press ) – Two children were killed and a similar number was injured on Monday by an explosion of a war remnant in the countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.

A local source told North Press, “A girl aged 16 and her brother aged eight lost their lives and two others were injured as they were picking up woods for heating in the countryside of Marat al-Numan, in southern Idlib, run by the Syrian government forces.”

A device went off as children set ablaze a bunch of woods for heating and then threw the device on the fire, the source added.

The two injured children were said to be in an unstable condition.

This is the third occurrence of its kind since January 1 as no de-mining action has been undertaken by the Syrian government.
