There has been a lot of talk on Randhir Kapoor's health after Ranbir Kapoor told a channel that his uncle Randhir Kapoor is in early dementia.

The statement has taken every fan of Raj Kapoor's family with worry. We at ETimes called up Randhir Kapoor this evening. Randhir denied it outright and assertively and emphatically said that he's fine.

Here is our conversation with Mr Randhir Kapoor:

Ranbir Kapoor has said in a recent interview that you are in early dementia...
(Laughs) Aisa kuch nahi hua. Not at all. I am perfectly fine. I just had COVID sometime ago (in April 2021).

Then how did Ranbir say it? (Ranbir's statement: "My uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is going through an early stage of dementia, and he came to me after the film, said, ‘Tell dad that he is amazing, and where is he, let’s call him’)
Ranbir ki marzi; he is entitled to say what he wants.

He said that after watching 'Sharmaji Namkeen', you enquired about the whereabouts of Rishi Kapoor and asked to call him...

I never said that. I am alright. In fact, I have just returned from Goa with Rahul Rawail. We were there at the Goa festival.

Randhir Kapoor had done an exclusive interview with us on video. If you missed it, see it below:

You did not attend the Rahul Rawail book launch (Randhir Kapoor had then been advised by his doctors to not travel by a helicopter)...
I was unwell that time; hence I did not travel.

So how did you find Rishi ji's performance in 'Sharmaji Namkeen'?
Like always, he was good. He was a very good actor.

Did you like the film?
The movie was good.

Are you enjoying in your new abode in Bandra?
Yes.

It must have brought you in close quarters with your family - Babita, Karisma and her kids, Kareena-Saif and their kids. They too stay in Bandra...
Yes, it has; they come and see me more often.

Do the memories of Chembur house still come rolling back? You stayed there right from childhood... those corners, those rooms, that bungalow...
Obviously. I was born there. Kaise yaad nahin aayegi? We lived there for so many years.
