About this course

Digital skills and competencies have become critical for teachers today, with the use and integration of technology in the teaching-learning process no longer being an option but an imperative. This is emphasised in the National Education Policy 2020, which calls for an urgent shift towards technology-enabled and integrated education to ensure India's competitiveness on the global stage. The COVID-19 pandemic has further changed the face of education as we have all known it. From teaching a physical classroom of 50 to 60 students to teaching students virtually from a room in their homes, and still being expected to impart the same level of learning, has not been an easy transition for teachers. TCS iON Career Edge - Digital Teacher, a free to access course, has been designed to help teachers through this unsettling upskilling and reskilling process, equipping them with essential skills and competencies to make their digital teaching journey smoother and effective.

This self-paced online course has been created by practitioners and covers a range of carefully selected topics which are relevant for both in-service and pre-service teachers. The course has 14 modules, each of 1-2 hours duration, with learning aids comprising videos, presentations, reading material and end-of-module self-assessments. An end-of-course assessment evaluates learners' understanding of concepts and if the course objectives are met, with the learner receiving a personalised certificate on successful completion. In addition, learners have access to a moderated digital discussion room that allows them to post queries and share their suggestions. The moderator responds to questions posted within a short time.

On completion of this course, teachers will be able to create rich learning experiences and an environment that harnesses the full potential of digital resources and technologies towards improving learning outcomes.
