Can anyone tell me if the VDGIF has stocked Accotink Creek and/or Holmes Run yet? If so, when?
I have a CfR retreat alumna who wants to fish. Complete newbie, only available on Thursday. Double Spur/Cedar Creek is booked. Passage Creek is closed for construction to the hatchery.
Any and all advice appreciated.

They have not stocked it yet. BUT they have stocked plenty of other creeks around!  you can check the daily trout stocking here -  https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/trout-stocking-schedule/

they may wait until later in the year to do so, who knows, maybe when temps get colder? I think last year i didnt start poking around until november..

If my intel is correct, it may happen on Wednesday, 30th.  Check the DGIF stocking site a previous respondent sent over the coming days.  Also, check with Mossy to see if they have any availability on Susie Q farm.  It was fishing well this weekend.  Maryland also just stocked some places in PG County and Frederick (https://dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Pages/trout/stocking.aspx).

I tried to fish Holmes Run at the tailwater (Columbia Pike) over the weekend and the sewage smell was unbearable. Has anyone else noticed that?

You may have been close to the sewers. Anything below the first crossing should be relatively stink free.

Thank you everyone! The Hive Mind around here continues to amaze me.
We'll aim for Accotink on thursday (as I remember, under the bridges is good!) and let you know how we do.

Accotink from 10am this morning.
Taken from a school bus as I chaperoned a field trip today.

Update:
Lots of water Thursday, not lots of fish, but a pleasant day before the rain.
Funnily enough, we ran into a fellow who was distressed at the amount of water in the creek. He was trying to get to the other side to retrieve "some cameras", and last week he'd been "able to walk across just anywhere!"
No longer true! We suggested he walk up to one of the bridges.

Planning to return after the fish have settled down and feel like eating.
