New Delhi: Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has said that the government is working on several fronts to establish India as a global manufacturing hub. Addressing a virtual programme of industry board FICCI on Tuesday, Kant said the government is particularly focusing on exports.

He said the government is finalizing its plans to extend the Production-related Incentive (PLI) scheme to more sectors to boost domestic manufacturing. Kant further said, "The government is working on several fronts to present India as a real manufacturing hub. It is particularly focused on export. Self-reliant India is not intended to isolate itself, but to become a big global exporter using deep integration with international value chains and the manufacturing power of the country. '

Kant further said that investment and innovation will increase manufacturing in India. "Countries and companies are renewing their manufacturing strategies, which could be a new path of contributing to the country's growth," he added. The PLI scheme for mobile and select electronics has benefited both direct and indirect employment.
