Property manager JLL said its latest office sentiment survey completed at the end of last year made it clear the office was the preferred location for work.

JLL head of research Gavin Read said 85 percent of employees want to be in the office full time or at least two to four days a week, with 71 percent wanting a combination of home and work options.

About 90 percent of office landlords offered some type of rent relief to to tenants over the pandemic and were keen to meet the changing demands for more collaborative space, suitable for sharing and generating ideas.

The quality of office space was number one in the list of priorities, followed by location, amenities, sustainability and commuting facilities.

Despite a greater focus on environmental considerations, only 5 percent of employees selected sustainability as a first-choice for their workplace, with another 12 percent ranking that second.

Gavin Read said sustainability ranked higher in overseas surveys.
