Sweet Spot

Rate this book
A standalone set in the Valley U world.

Lincoln Reeves may be a pro golfer and revered swing coach, but when I meet him, he is just one more person telling me I’m not good enough.
So, I do what any girl in my position would do. I tell him to get lost and take his arrogant, annoying smirk with him.
I never expect to see him again. I certainly don’t expect to run into him that same night after one too many tequila shots.
Turns out that he’s kind of a big deal. Okay, fine, a really big deal. In fact, he might be the one person who can take my game to the next level.
Convincing him to help will be difficult.
Not throwing my club at his handsome face when he makes me work harder than I thought humanly possible will be excruciating.
But not falling for him will be the hardest thing of all.

SweetSpotRebeccaJenshak

I’m not a huge golf fan, but I’ve read Rebecca Jenshak’s other NA sports romance series, and had high hopes this would be another win for me. I’m happy to say I enjoyed it a lot.

Keira is a Valley U golfer and one of the best on her team. Due to her coach being a jerk, she doesn’t get the playing time she should. When she meets Lincoln, a professional swing coach, she isn’t sure she needs his help, but she’ll do anything to make it to the top so she enlists him.

Lincoln played professional golf for a while, but now focuses on his business. It’s his first priority, and he has a failed marriage to show for that. He’s a little older than Keira, a little more jaded when it comes to love, but these two have some major chemistry going on from day one. And it’s impossible to ignore.

I loved watching Keira tear down all Lincoln’s walls. She was such a strong and resilient heroine. Lincoln was great too. I loved watching their relationship develop and grow with time.
"You don’t need me… you never did, but I’m glad as hell you found me.”

Sweet Spot was an easy to read, fast paced, sweet, steamy, and fun sports romance. I always love a bit of an age gap and I enjoyed this cast of characters. I hope we get more in this Valley U world, and I would definitely love a book for Lincoln’s brother, Kenton.

3.5 STARS

This was a super cute, light-hearted and sweet read.

Now truth be told, I'm not a golf fan. *whispers* I'd rather watch grass grow. Stop judging me! It's not my sport, mkay? But I AM a huge Rebecca Jenshak fan. So when she puts a grumpy golf pro and a a hot-headed college golfer in a blurb, you bet I'm going to be all over it like white on rice.

Lincoln Reeves and Keira were wonderful together. There's no angst. No crazy drama. Just two people falling for each other. Keira is a talented golfer that has the coach from hell and desperate to prove herself. Lincoln is someone that can spot raw talent and instantly recognizes it in Keira. Their first meeting isn't exactly smooth and there may be some spilled tequila involved, but it doesn't take Keira long to recognize Lincoln's potential to help get her to where she wants to be. he may be handsome but he's not the arrogant athlete she first took him for. What begins as coaching soon turns to something neither of them expected.

Now don't be side eyeing my rating here. Because a 3.5 star means I enjoyed it. And the low star rating has nothing to do with the writing or the book, and more with my personal preference. When I read grumpy golf pro, I expected grump. And Lincoln wasn't that at all. He was super sweet, albeit a bit jaded on relationships since he's a workaholic that loves his job. Personally, this was a touch too sweet and fluffy for my personal tastes, but it was still an entertaining read. Heck, it actually got me to enjoy golf and learn some technical terms I never knew I had an interest in. It may not quite have hit the spot for me, but this may have been because I set my expectations for more grumpy and maybe a little more of the hate to love banter. If you love light and easy reads, this one will certainly hit the spot. And if we're being entirely truthful here, I have every intention of buying the paperback for this cover. And you don't get to judge me for it! That. Damn. Finger. Bite.

Easy, sweet, and low angst golf romance set in the Valley U world. A heroine who needs to get out of her own head on the golf course, and a hero that needs to get out of his own way on the love course? (Hey, I tried.) Keira is a golf LOVER. She eats sleeps and breaths the sport. Unfortunately she has a coach who isn’t a fan of her, so she doesn’t get the playing time or the support that she needs. Insert Lincoln Reeves. He’s the owner of a sports advice website, a former golf pro, and forever golf lover. He comes to Valley U as a favor to a friend, and ends up having some tense/awkward moments with Keira, but isn’t that how the best love stories start?

Anyway. Lincoln sees so much raw talent that he wants to help her out. Keira is reluctant, because in her experience golf coaches have been less than helpful. Watching Lincoln support Keira on the way to her dreams, and Keira bring Lincoln out of his workaholic bubble is just so sweet and pure. They have a couple tough times, but all in all this is an easy and sweet read. A heroine showing a hero that when it’s real love you’ll make it work, and a hero supporting his heroine on her way to her goals.

All in all a good read. We meet some new characters who I guarantee will become favorites, and some of the oldies show up in ways too.

I usually like Miss Jenshak books. Especially the Valley U series. Sweet Spot is the spin off from Valley U series. I am shock upon finishing this book, I do not like it at all.

I can not get any connection with the characters, the character and story development and the romance. Sweet Spot is more focusing on the golf instead of the romance. The connection between characters also confusing. There is no angst, plot or twist that grab my attention.

What a disappointment!

I am kind of at a loss as to what I am feeling about this book. Which is really weird. I know my head is still at this very distracted place that is making it very hard for me to get lost in reading any book, but obviously I signed up to review these books because I was very excited to read them. So when they land on my kindle I get that little flutter but then I have to physically force myself to sit down and read. And a book I would normally inhale in a day is taking me two or three days to get through and it’s driving me nuts.

So while I read this and liked it, I was super distracted and part of that, i’ll be honest is that golf bores me to tears. But the majority of it is simply me. And sadly the distraction made me feel like I wasn’t hugely connected to the characters and the storyline. But I love Rebecca Jenshak’s Smart Jocks Series so much. And I really loved getting little nods to them in this book.

Lincoln wasn’t a character I loved. He was kind of a meh hero for me. I understand where he was coming from in holding back on a relationship with Keira but it annoyed me a little and if he were a heroine I would be screaming at him through my kindle. But I think since he was a man and he felt his justifications so deeply I kind of forgave him a little bit but I really wanted him to man up a lot sooner.

Keira was great. I loved her drive and dedication, she made me feel like a real slacker as I ate chips and drank wine and read about her busting her arse to improve her sport. And man did she work for everything she wanted. And I was right there cheering for her at all of her victories. I really wanted her coach to get hit by a bus but never mind maybe that can be in the next book ;)

I enjoyed the writing style and I love college, sports romances. It was nice to have a slight age gap, it added a bit of reality into the book and I really did feel like both characters were genuine people I could meet on the street, well maybe not me since I’ll be at home reading and don’t talk to strangers but you get my drift.

Ok wait this golf romance was so cute!!! I will forever shout about Rebecca Jenshak’s books being sooo good on audio, so when I saw this one was available on hoopla, I had to dive in! And this was the cutest, college sports romance between the golfer heroine and a swing coach.

Keira goes to Valley U (so this does lightly connect to some of the author’s other books) and is one of the best golfers for the school’s team. Her coach is the worst so she doesn’t get much playing time, but Keira is determined to be the best. Lincoln is a former pro golfer turned swing coach who instantly notices Keira’s raw talent for the game and wants to help her. At first she isn’t interested after being burned by coaches in the past, but she quickly realizes he can potentially help her out and she hires him!

This was low angst and just a cute, fun time! Lincoln is a 30-year old, previously divorced, workaholic who falls quickly for Keira. This was a quick, 300-page read, and for someone who has always thought golf was boring…this read was not! Definitely do the audio!

The one thing I have found with Rebecca Jenshak and her books, is that they are so well thought out, detailed, passionate and absolutely everything a person needs for a sports romance. What I love about Sweet Spot is that it is not just a book about golf, it is a book about self discovery. Not just for Keira but also for Lincoln. That they do have a place in the world. Not just as individuals but also as a couple. Their connection is absolutely sizzling. Even though Lincoln fights it most of the time and Keira tries to play it off, these two together are magic. They play so well off of each other as well as their banter had me giggling and swooning at the same time. As the story progresses, you really get a feel for both characters and how they develop through it. Both are so passionate about not only golf, but life.
Overall, this is a brilliant story by Jenshak. While set in the Valley U world, it is a complete standalone. The attention to detail that the author has given to this book, especially regarding all things golf, was absolutely perfect. I never felt lost, because this girl knows nadda about golf aside from hit ball, watch fly! The passion, the chemistry, the absolute love and respect that these two have just makes you want the book to never end. It was pure magic and I loved every word of it!

3.5 - "Whats next, Coach..?" Stars!

Another enjoyable return to the Valley U universe with Golf Coach and business entrepreneur Lincoln Reeve’s getting his HEA in the form of College student/come rising golf star Keira Brooks. I was intrigued by Lincoln in The Fake so it was good to get a deeper understanding of him in Sweet Spot

We’ve only had a few small moments where we’ve shared that personal connection, but I want more of it…

I loved their first (and second) meet-cute in this one, the story-line was nice and easy going, low on the angst which I have come to expect from Rebecca, she brings the drama but doesn’t drag it out or overplay it which I massively appreciate. I can honestly say I have never watched golf so some of the terminology was lost on me, but what I loved was the fact that this story was about a female in the world of sport, it was refreshing reading of Keira’s challenges on that front and I hope the author explores this theme more in the future.

"Are you sure you wanna do this..?"

"…I know what this is, and I still want you."

As expected Sweet Spot was no struggle to read, the characters and the locale are always a great place to return to, but I do think the characters themselves this time lacked a little depth. In all honesty, I didn’t really feel much of an emotional connection between Kiera and Lincoln apart from friendship and their mutual love of golf until almost the end of the book. I struggled to understand the whole ‘Coach’ issue, for me, the author missed a trick in not giving Kiera more page time towards the end in giving the reader a vocalized conclusion between the two of them, I was itching for it and it never came.

"You don’t need me… you never did, but I’m glad as hell you found me."

I’m hoping at some point Hunter; Nathan’s brother (The Fake) & Lincoln’s brother; Kenton get books, I would also like to see more of the Valley U crew, new term, students, teams and all that, it’s a great world, that the author has built and I am definitely not ready to leave it just yet.

I don’t like golf?? Every time I think about it the only images that comes to my head are old white rich men and Sharpay Evans skipping through a golf course with Troy and Chad following behind her in misery. Anyway. I don’t like golf and had no idea what was happening but I loved how determined this heroine was. Go girl, get it.

4 Delightful CROWNS

Over the past year, I have absolutely become such a fan of Rebecca’s work. She writes really low drama, sweet and and romantic story lines. I love the athlete aspect, as it is one of my favorite tropes, and I enjoy that her stories do not tend to follow the arrogant jock route.

Lincoln is the coach, a man dedicated to his business of helping athletes. He is beyond sweet. He is portrayed as grumpy in the synopsis, but I found him to be the farthest from that. I think that he was probably grumpy prior to meeting the heroine, but he meets her chapter one and is sweet and endearing from the moment, even when he is being the strict coach. He has some hand ups to get over, but I really loved his character.

Keira is the dedicated golfer with big dreams. I loved her spirit and determination, and I also loved that she wouldn’t allow herself to be mistreated. She definitely has her immature (I’m not even sure that is the right word) moments at time, but she is a kid in college, and I found those made her more lovable as a character.

This story is very low angst and drama. It really is watching two people who love the game of gold fall for each other and find a way to merge their lives. I loved the athlete and coach angle, and I loved seeing the hero cheer and support the heroine, doing everything to help her reach her dreams. The HEA, too, was perfect for them and who they became as a couple.

Rebecca Jenshak has secured her spot as one of my new romcom, NA romance writers. Her stories are just fun and romantic, and they show you the sweeter side of love.

SWEET SPOT was a delicious slow-burn, full of sass (Keira) and swoon (Lincoln), and I think it was quite possibly my favourite Rebecca Jenshak book to date.
Golf isn’t a sport I’m particularly crazy about (watching paint dry springs to mind), but this story had me really getting into it without being bogged down (read: bored) with all the terminology. Valley U is one of my happy places, and if you’ve read Rebeccas ‘Smart Jocks’ series, then you might just recognise one or two characters. It was so great to be back there, meeting a whole new group of friends, and although I thought I would really miss my basketball faves, it was actually refreshing to get to know a sport that hasn’t been done a lot.
Jenshak is my queen of sports romance and it is fair to say that she gets better and better with every new release. One of the things I love most is that she doesn’t make her heroes into arseholes just for the sake of it. Her men are always ‘gentlemen’, and know how to treat a woman, and that to me is sexy. That’s not to say that they don’t have their faults, because they certainly do, but they are always redeemable which I don’t think a lot of book heroes are nowadays.
While this book can absolutely be read as a stand-alone, I’m always going to recommend you go and read the Smart Jocks series first...purely because it’s bloody brilliant and I defy you not to fall in love with all these swoon men and their sassy ladies.

I am a sports romance junkie and I could not wait to get my hands on something new and exciting: golf romance!

It did not disappoint. Rebecca Jenshak has quickly become a sports romance go-to. I loved how this one was a little bit different, but still connected with her previous books. It's got all the elements of a New Adult romance but it's almost like it's a NA/contemporary hybrid. I had so much fun reading!

It's relatively low on angst and the whole feel of the book is rather light. There isn't a deep dive into either character or what makes them tick - and I might have liked a little more depth there. Lincoln's commitment issues seem glossed over and even having finished the book I'm not entirely sure what the big issue was there. So - a deeper dive would have been nice.

That said, I still enjoyed the heck out of this book. The romance was adorable, sexy, and playful. I loved how easily Lincoln and Keira clicked and their sweet moments set my heart aflutter. If you're looking for a light, playful, low angst sports romance? Definitely give this one a shot! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

‘I want him to know that I’m willing to do what it takes to be the best and he didn’t make the wrong choice in taking me on as a client. I saw that look on his face at the clinic when he helped me with my swing. He believed in me. I want that look back.’

Sweet Spot by Rebecca Jenshak was everything the title suggests; super sweet. An easy to read light-hearted romance about a twenty one year old golf fanatic college girl and a thirty year old golf coach and owner of Reeves Sports. We love this Author and were really looking forward to Lincoln’s story after meeting him in The Fake, which we loved. Rebecca Jenshak writes brilliant sports romances and the research is on par, pun intended. She nails the emphasis on sport and romance, and whilst we knew nothing about golf going into this story, we certainly do now! Sweet Spot had great characters and a wonderful grandma who stole our hearts, it was also super low on angst and drama. We enjoyed it, and it was definitely a lovely read but the romance didn't quite take us to the point of being gripped with emotions or sadly sweep us off our feet. We have to say though how much we love the appearance of characters from previous books, it’s always nice to have a catch up!

I love sports, I love to watch it and I love to read about it, but golf doesn't have the same appeal on me, because I see it more as an old, presumptuous, rich men kind of thing. But despite this, I decided to read this story to see if an author I esteem makes me like it.

Rebecca Jenshak succeeded to get me into golf, and her writing made me enjoy this story and these bunch of interesting, hot and funny characters.

Keira is a student, she plays golf for the college team but she feels like the team and especially her are not appreciated and supported as much as the men's team is. Lincoln is an ex pro golfer, now owner of a very successful coaching company and a coach swing himself.
They meet at the driving range and they start a nice, funny, weird friendship. They share the same love and passion for golf so Lincoln accepts to coach her immediately but working together puts a brake on their relationship.
Will Keira risk all her dreams to chase her coach's heart or the dream of becoming the best golfer is stronger than anything?

“Golf is a lot like love, I think. If it isn’t making you a little nuts, is it even real? Passion - good or bad, is how you can gauge what’s really important to people.”

Lincoln and Keira were cute and lovely and I recommend to read their story even if you are not a golf fan because there is more than that to their journey.

Sweet Spot is a sweet, new adult, sports romance. It takes place in the Valley U world and you do see some familiar faces from previous books, but it’s still a complete standalone. Keira is a headstrong golfer on her college team. She and her coach do not get along. When Lincoln, a former pro golfer, comes to her university to teach a golf clinic, he and Keira meet, but don’t necessarily get off on the right foot. After she finds out exactly what he does and realizes he may be able to help her get to the pros, she persuades him into coaching her. The story is pretty heavy on the golf for my liking and I definitely struggled with some of the golf lingo. But, they were good characters and it kept my interest throughout. They were super cute together, and I loved watching Lincoln learn how to let go of things and live his life. Keira’s character changed a lot throughout, definitely for the better. All together, it’s a cute addition to the new adult, sports romance genre and I would recommend it. And if you love books on golf, this has your name written all over it!

I’m a big fan of sports-related romances – but golf isn’t a favorite sport nor have I read even one romance with golf as the featured sport. I’m glad I decided to give this one a go. I had to do some googling on golf terms, but it was a fun reading experience.

Lincoln Reeves is a thirty-year old divorced workaholic and Keira is a college junior golf star. There wasn’t a lot of hullabaloo made of their age difference – barely even mentioned. I’m usually a little cautious with age differences, but this one felt real and didn’t give me pause. And they were delightful together with plenty of teasing and witty banter. Their light-hearted story has a small amount of angst on both sides, a cute meddling grandmother, who also is quite willing to be the dispenser of wisdom, and plenty of trips to the golf course, along with a sexy and steamy romance between the coach and his prodigy.

The fast-paced storytelling doesn’t leave room for boredom. It’s well-written with two dynamic lead characters that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Tee Off With This One!

I love a sports romance, and even though I hardly know a thing about golf, I was swept up in Lincoln and Keira’s story.

Keira is still attending University and is on the golf team. After one bad tournament, and losing her temper, she needs help to get back on the touring team. Her couch isn’t helpful in any way so when she sees an opportunity with an ex pro turned swing coach specialist, she jumps at it.

The thing I enjoyed the most about this book was the slow burn. It wasn’t insta love or unrealistic ventures in the bedroom. It was a relationship build on a professional level, to friends then lovers. Lincoln had hang ups from his failed marriage so it would never of worked if they acted on the attraction that was between them. I loved his commitment to her and his dedication of helping her win. They had the same work ethic and appreciated the time each needed to hone their careers. There is little angst in this tale but enough to pull on your heartstrings and hope for the best outcome. The epilogue was a sweet spot for me, and I feel Linc hit a whole in one with his surprises.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This was my first golf romance and I don’t think I could’ve picked a better one. It is not a sport I know a ton about so it was really cool to learn more about it though this book.

Keira and Lincoln had such a playful connection with underlying sexual chemistry. Their coach athlete relationship was different from most. I loved seeing Keira come into her own as an athlete.

I really enjoyed reading an age gap romance that wasn’t forbidden. It was a nice twist on coach athlete romances!

This was heavy on the golf content but in a way that was entertaining and easy to follow along.

This was a fun and short college sport romance that kept my attention. I couldn’t put this book down.

4.5 stars really. While I’m not really the biggest fan of older man romances, because I prefer younger men myself, I really did like this story a lot. I classified it as New Adult, because Keira is in college, even if Lincoln is not. The story was sweet, and definitely kept my interest. It took me longer than normal because of the lack of driving places these days, and me really only listening to audiobooks while in the car. I did love both of the narrators though, they did a great job. And I loved Lincoln’s grandma. I’m also hoping there is a book for Lincoln’s brother as well. We’ll see!

A quick and fun audiobook! Ive never read a golf romance before that was really fun especially since I’m starting to learn golf at the moment. Overall an easy to read, fast paced, cute, sweet and steamy sports romance. it wasn’t a lot of drama and angst which I liked it was just what I needed at the moment. It really is just two people falling for each other that truly love golf and them finding a way to merge their lives. Age gap isn’t really my fav thing in books tho

Sports romance is one of my favourite genres to read, and Rebecca Jenshak’s latest book, Sweet Spot, hit the mark with its appeal and unique storyline. Rebecca is a master of penning a sweet romance that packs a punch. I'm a big fan of her Smart Jocks series so I was beyond excited to dive into Sweet Spot as it's set in the same world.

I really enjoyed Keira and Lincoln’s story. I fell in love with both not just as a couple but individually, too. These two were made for each other. Their banter, late night practice sessions, and chemistry had me flipping the pages. I loved their refreshing slow burn romance. It made their story authentic, genuine and real. Their partnership was great to read and every page made me love them even more.

Sweet Spot is an easy light read and a low angst slow burn. I enjoyed every aspect of the book. Rebecca easily incorporates the perfect blend sport and sexy moments between the two main characters. I loved the passion between the characters on and off the green! It was great to read another sports romance book which doesn‘t focus on the typical sport like football and hockey. I didn‘t know any of the terms but it was fun to learn new stuff!

I Love this book . Rebecca Jenshak brings here a sports sport with a not-approached sport that was a grateful surprise, a sweet romance with a low level of anguish and that when it ended up left me with a smile on my face.

Here's the story of Keira and Lincon and let me tell you that I fell in love with both not just as a couple but individually, too. I really like how the author developed the relationship of these two characters.Keira is a character determined to her goals, and I admire it in her, not to mention that she helped Lincon see that life beyond work and that he also deserved a second chance in love and Lincol helped and endured Keira to fulfill her goals. Their partnership was great to read and every page made me love them more.

Sweet Spot, besides introducing readers to golf, a sport not much approached when we have sports romantic brings a romantic history with a light, cute and slow- burn story to read, and I really enjoyed it.

4.5 this was adorable stars. I really liked this one because of how relatable it was, how real. Kiera is a girl that is completely focused on her golf game and Lincoln is the swing coach that comes in and wants to help her live up to the potential he sees in her. The instant they see each other, they know that something is there, but neither of them have time for anything other than what they are focused on.
Lincoln is divorced. He spends his time growing his business and realizes he is too selfish for a relationship. Kiera wants to better her golf game so she doesn't have to watch the other girls on her team get chosen for tournaments and while she sits back and watches. She hires Lincoln to help her and they try to keep things platonic, knowing they really don't have time for more, but things soon start to heat up. Even more than that, they begin to care for each other in a way that they haven't cared for anyone before. I think that is the part that I loved the most about this book. Lincoln sees so much in Kiera and it isn't just an instant attraction to the young girl he is coaching. It is a emotional connection that is formed first so you know this is deeper rooted than just being in it because they can't stay away from each other's bodies.
Lincoln is worried he would do the same thing to Kiera that he did to his first wife, he realizes he is selfish and I love to see the growth of character here. It is a great summer read.

Kiera is completely focused on her golf career. She gets no support from her coach and she's not thrilled about it. Then she meets Lincoln, a retired pro who's now a coach. He's a bit of a grump, he's older than she, but he knows what he's doing. Hiring him to coach her is the perfect idea. Linc is adamant that he doesn't want/doesn't do, a relationship, and Kiera is too focused on her golf to want one, too. She whatever it is they develop is not by any means going to end up being serious. Or that's the plan at least. But we all know that the plan rarely goes without a hitch, and that's where the fun comes in.

I really liked this low on angst golf romance. I am a decent golf fan (Phil Mickelson is my fave!) and this book made me an even bigger fan because it's pretty heavy on the golf, without bogging down the rest of the story. Kiera and Linc are actually really cute couple who didn't even want (so they said) to be a couple. If angst free romances are your thing, then Sweet Spot is the perfect story for you. It's lighthearted, it's fun, and Linc and Kiera are adorable.

Sweet Spot was very much an easy read, very low on drama with 2 very likeable main characters in Keira and Lincoln. Keira is the sometimes fiery and determined golfer that really wants to improve her game and make it in the sport. Lincoln is who she decides is going to be her coach, and she goes about making that happen.

Obviously this storyline revolves around golf, I have zero interest in golf but I still found this to be an enjoyable read. The move from coach/client into a relationship is pretty slow going being these two, Lincoln does his best to keep interactions professional but there is strong attraction happening on both sides.

Lincoln's Grandma adds some humour to the story with her determination to set Lincoln up. She just wants her grandson to be happy, and they have a very sweet relationship. Loved the very small appearance from a character from this authors previous series, that book was my fav in that series so I'm always happy to see more of a favourite.
