Salvation Army calling for donations as cold, hard winter causes increase in demand

As winter sets in, many New Zealanders are feeling the cold - and the Salvation Army is trying its best to help.

Jono Bell, the territorial director of community ministries, told The AM Show there has been a massive increase in demand - partially from the strain COVID-19 put on the community, but mostly because Kiwis are suffering in cold, damp homes.

He says a third of New Zealand's children are living in homes that are "way too cold" - and the Salvation Army is in need of donations to help fund its work.
