Housing in Hong Kong is in great demand and at relatively high cost. Although the University has at least 24 hostels with more than 5600 places, it can only accommodate 40% of its local students on campus. Many have to live off campus. The longer you stay in Hong Kong (for at least 1 year) the more choices and relatively cheaper accommodation are available.

Budget: for those who study between June to mid-August, please allow HK$130-250 (US$16-32) per night as your budget for an on-campus dorm place. For those who stay for less than 6 months, please allow HK$6000 (US$769) per month for a twin share room. For those who stay for at least 6 months but below 1 year, please allow a budget of HK$5000 (US$641) per month for a single en-suite room. For those who intend staying for at least 1 year, an apartment costs around HK$9000 (US$1153) per month and can be shared by 2 to 3 people.

Support: CLC staff could not confirm your accommodation (especially those which are off-campus) before you pay the deposit and arrive Hong Kong. So, it is better for student to contact the supplier by yourself first. Though there will be last minute support during the orientation in Hong Kong, in order to reduce the frustration of students, it is better for student to do their own search and contact the suppliers first.

Students who stay in Hong Kong can consider using second hand furniture to save cost and being friendly to the environment. The following web links provide a platform between expatriates in Hong Kong to trade furniture and household appliances.
