Ninth Circle.
Treachery.
Also known as Tanner Caine.

He is a temptation with cold, dark eyes.
A man with a seductive smirk and a body built for pure sin.
The linchpin of a group of wealthy bad boys known as the Inferno.

A dark presence that repels as much as he attracts, Tanner is the poisoned apple I want to bite even when I know it will destroy me.

Our story started in college, but I ran from him so far I believed I was safe.
I should have known he’d find me eventually.
I should have known that nobody escapes.

He has me in his sights again with an offer I can’t pass up.
I know better than to make a deal with the Devil.
Not unless I’m willing to pay his sensual price…

***Each novel in the series depicts a unique romance, but the plots through each book connect in one world. For the best experience, read the series in order.

'TREACHERY' is the first full length book in Lily White's 'Antihero' series. This is a continuation of Tanner’s and Luca’s story and is spoken in 'Dual Perspectives' You don’t need to read ‘The Prequel’ as that’s where this book starts off.

Ninth Circle: Treachery; Tanner Caine, He's the linchpin of this group, the man behind all the tough decisions and makes all the shots.

Not long after reading the prequel, this book became one I was most highly anticipating. And after inhaling this one, this author is taking us readers captive, she’s cast a spell on us, each falling in her web, each of us loving the magic she’s weaving with her story telling. This book was exceptional, easily becoming another favourite of mine by this author.

The prequel (PAST) is included in this. Once you hit (present time) all that goodness we’ve been waiting for finally unfolds.

A game of cat and mouse, like players on a chess board, the game was on to see which opponent could out match, out wit the other. And no one was better at the games one played than Tanner. But who better to go up against him and bring him to his knees is none other than 'Luca Bailey' the girl who thinks she got away in College. She may be down on her luck but she's a force to be reckoned with and she's ready to go tooth and nail up against the king manipulator of all time.

Tanner and the nines father's still want something from Luca and they are all upping their games to get what they want. This is fast paced, hilarious, swoon worthy and a page turner from start to finish. This had me from the get go and never once let go..

This author fast became one of my unicorn authors, one that I would recommend, one that I would one click, one where I would read whatever she wrote in a heart beat..!!

Just remember not to start games you can’t finish. I’m the type of guy who will keep playing them until you beg me to stop.”

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. TWICE.

What kind of rock have I been living under all of this time that this is my first Lily White book? And what kind of friends even are you that you haven't smacked me over the head to read her sooner? *eyeing all of you* Except you, Ratula. We're still going steady. And thanks for rec. I owe you one :)

But in all seriousness, how? HOW have I not read her before. I love me the dark stuff, and I do hear that Lily writes DARK. However, if you're a bit of a puss, don't worry, this isn't on that level. It's more twisty and gritty rather than dark. And this girl gobbled it right up with a spoon and begged for seconds!
He takes without asking. Traps me without apology. Seduces me without effort. A maelstrom. That’s what Tanner is.

The premise is delicious. Nine anti-heroes. Each with their own particular brand of tortured. Each unique and magnetic and with one shared goal, to bring down the patriarch that continue to pull their chain until they're fully out from their influence. Sounds intriguing? Well it's even better than it sounds.

Tanner is Treachery. He's enigmatic and cold without a care for anyone but his own calculated agenda. Suffice it to say I wanted to have his babies the second he appeared on the page. And Luca was the fly that landed right into his spider web...but it certainly wasn't by accident.
How is it possible to want someone so much when you absolutely hate them?

Now if you're like me and enemies to lovers is your jam, prepare for this to be the best book crack ever. Because OH MY GOD.

If there's one thing that I love in the enemies to lovers trope, besides a hero that's deliciously MEAN, is a heroine that can give as good as she gets. And Luca is certainly that. The woman goes head to head with one of the most feared and intimidating man, and doesn't bat an eyelash. The first time her and Tanner meet, she's in college and while she's a bit introverted and shy, she's still no pushover. But when these two reunite years later, Luca certainly has had time to come into her own. And boy does she make Tanner work for it.
She’s the girl who thinks she got away, and fortunately for me, circumstances have landed her firmly back in my grasp. I’ll have her screaming my name before I let her go again-one way or another.

The banter and their push and pull dynamic was one of the most delicious I've read in a while. If you like your anti-heroes mean, and I mean MEAN, then you'll fall head over ovaries for Tanner. The man is damn near vicious when need be. But behind the callous words and cold calculation, there beats something a little more. Something more vulnerable and hidden. Something that Luca is able to peel the layers back from.
He didn’t just kiss, he possessed, claimed, dominated until you couldn’t think past the way his lips felt and the hard body pressed against you.

I was immediately hooked on this book and instantly hooked and addicted on this series. As much as I loved Tanner and as much as he took center stage in the story, I was so intrigued by the other men. You get plenty of page time with Gabe, which makes sense, since his story is next, and I'm already gagging for it. But I have absolutely zero chill when it comes to it and want them all now!

If you're looking for something gritty, sexy, with a layer of mystery and suspense that will have you reading well into the night and incapable of setting it down; READ. THIS. BOOK.

If you can’t beat them join them!

This book was a complex puzzle of the mind games these guys play on people. I enjoyed the journey, though I must say I was often frustrated with how bad these guys are and how they try to justify the things they do. But that is also part of the charm. These guys know they are bad. They don’t apologize for it and they are most likely never going to change.

When I say these guys, I mean the nine guys that lived in the Inferno house at Yale. They all grew up together, all had terrible childhoods despite growing up wealthy due to the fact their fathers are all cruel and despicable men who only see their sons as tools to use to further their own agenda. I went over all the background in my review for the prequel, which looks like it is no longer available because now it is included in this book. My review of the Treachery Prequel

So I won’t go into the background or the time that our two main characters first met at Yale. Tanner (a.k.a. Treachery) and Luca were already extremely attracted to each other and had been intimate, but Tanner being the jerk he is was constantly trying to get Luca to owe him a favor. Him and his friends trade in favors, and when they can’t get someone that they need something from to ask them for a favor, they don’t mind resorting to blackmail or using other people who owe them favors to get things done.

What I didn’t like:

There were several things about Tanner that I did not like at all. First being that he seemed to have no feelings other than attraction for Luca. Though we know there is more there, since he has kept track of her for the years that they were apart when he was finishing law school and when she was married. It frustrated me that he was just too cruel for so long in this book. It took me a long time to warm up to him.

I had very little respect for Tanner at the beginning. When they were at Yale together Luca mentioned how brilliant he was and how he would make such a great attorney when he graduated, but when he takes her husbands case in the divorce, Tanner gets Luca under his thumb, not be being a good lawyer but by cheating. He had to have a friend hack into the court database and also he was willing to have some guy lie about having an affair with her. Later I learned this is just how they get things done in their world. It is all about the people owing them favors and using different people when needed by calling in the favors.

The guys all hate their fathers so much but they are not much better, or they are on their way to being very similar. They are all waiting for their fathers to die so they can get out from under their thumbs and inherit billions, but if they were any sort of real men they would just make more money themselves and not care about their fathers at all. As it is they do own a law firm and make a ton of money and are rich in their own right and independent of their fathers, but they still let the fathers push them around sometimes and it seems to be a sore spot that their fathers just don’t retire and hand over their businesses.

What I liked:

I loved that Luca is a strong female character and though Tanner has had tons of girls and gotten many of them into the position of owing him a favor, Luca is the only one that has fought back and successfully thwarted him. It’s great how almost every time he thinks he has her where he wants her and she will agree to his terms, she ends up turning things around on him or standing up to him and not giving in.

I love it when guys are so used to getting their way and they think they will just be able to keep doing that and a strong female comes along and turns things over on them. Especially when the guy has a big plan with even back up plans and he thinks it is basically a done deal. I just loved how she kept doing the opposite of what he wanted.

No matter what Tanner tries he can never win with her because he tries to set things up like 50 steps ahead in order to get the outcome he wants. And even though he plays around with her life and keeps setting her on certain paths, she never ends up doing what he expects so he never comes out the winner. I am excited to read the rest of the series, each book should be about one of the nine guys. Gabriel and the twins especially.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Book 1 of 9 from Antihero Inferno series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

After leaving Yale, Luca Bailey thought she was finally free from Tanner Caine and the Inferno. But after three years of suffering, things went from bad to worse when Tanner came back into her life. She needed to resist the temptations because he was determined to finish what he started.

I liked Tanner when he was being an asshole, but he was also unexpectedly amusing. Luca had a fighting spirit in her that appealed to me and together they were a volatile combination.

“I want to hear you say it.”
“Why?”
“For posterity. That way the next time you tell me you hate me, I can remind you that you begged for me to shove my cock inside you, to ride your cunt until you’re screaming.”

Tanner and Luca’s story was entertaining with their push and pull, even with some slow parts. Then there’s the series storyline that I’m not sure yet how it’s going to be unfolded over nine books. I am intrigued by some of the other characters especially Gabriel and the twins. I actually liked Gabriel more than Tanner in this book.

Treachery is a story of determination and making things right. It would appeal to readers who enjoy enemies to lovers romance.

if I had to describe this book in one word, it'd be ✨underdeveloped✨

I called Treachery and the series a walmart Devil's Night in one of my updates and now, having finished the book, I am even more convinced that that's what it is.While Treachery's side plotline was ridiculous, it was nowhere near as dramatic and eye-roll inducing as those in the Devil's Night series, and there were no unnecessary poly scenes, the romance, characters and main plotline were also disappointingly underdeveloped.

ohhh also I won't discuss the fact that 8 of the most powerful men in this city had kids, all born in the same year and all of them boys, who would then go on to become the Inferno (that's some coordinationation, I mean damn), imagine planning that

Here's what I liked
✦The whole story while not amazing, somehow kept me entertained for the entire duration of the book.
✦Gabriel, who outshined everyone, even though this wasn't his book.
✦The banter between the boys and their relationship.
✦Ava and Mason!!!
✦The prequel. In fact, I think that this story would've been so much more interesting if it was just them in college.
✦I love dramatic asshole rich boys and their antics. (usually)

The Characters

Our heroine is Luca (I hate that name btw), and she was mostly tolerable, but still kind of dumb.
I liked her standing up to Tanner, but mostly there was no point in it, except for banter and to show the readers that she is a strong independant woman, because she did what he told her most of the time anyways...
What I didn't like is that she had no aspirations in life. She was in a loveless marriage for 3 years, for one of which she was taking care of her sick mother, then mourning her and later her father too, but you mean to tell me that during this entire time while her husband was cheating on her and paying no attention to her, she just sat in her house-- didn't she want to do anything, go back to school, get a job, pick up a hobby, for god's sake she didn't even have any friends.

Luca for the last 3 years:

Tanner gave me total Michael from Corrupt vibes, that is, he had no personality, he never opened up and he didn't develop at all. The whole point of a bully romance, imo, is for the heroine and the readers to understand why the hero acted the way he did, to sympathise with him and to see him grow from this toxic person that he was. We didn't see that in Treachery . We're repeatedly told that he hasn't changed in the eyes of others, just in Luca's, which I can see, okay, but we also learnt next to nothing about him. He didn't open up at all, I mean homeboy possessed no emotional intelligence whatsoever. Also, we're told that he's this genius attorney, but we never see him be anything close to it. In fact, he is the head of a multi-million company and the only thing he does is scream at the people that work for him and Gabriel to do the work he is supposed to be doing.
I can see what the author was trying to do with him, but she completely missed the target.

The Romance

Again, underdeveloped. It seemed like Tanner only wanted Luca because of how attractive she was and so that he could sleep with her. Nowhere does he talk about her as a person (besides her being feisty) and why he loves her besides that one personality trait.
Luca literally falls for him because he isn't treating her like complete garbage for a week.
Also homeboy is a tad bit too controlling and has a bit of a jealousy problem.
their relationship may or may not be juuuuust a little bit

The steamy scenes were super dry and literally the same things in the same order happened in each one.

In conclusion, nothing ground-breaking or even great, but still kinda interesting - honestly, exactly what you'd expect from the tropes in this book, but again, slightly underdeveloped.

Some stupid quotes that genuinely made me laugh lol don't judge me please:

"Someone is fucking with us, which can't be allowed. If anybody is fucking with anybody, it should be us fucking with the world."
"That's a lot of fucking."

"If you got [a private jet] for graduating high school, what did you get for graduating Yale?"
"A fucking headache."

me googling where I can buy a straitjacket

Surely, after loving the asshole, treacherous, bully, tormentor, but beautiful Tanner, I should sign myself in a mental institution because it’s clearly a symptom that I’m not in the right mental state and I need help STAT.

Right? 🥺

"How is it possible to want someone so much when you absolutely hate them?"

"We all have our own particular talents. Mine just happens to be the design of the board and placement of the players. I’m the devious mind behind the game, the puppet master pulling the strings. But I can’t do it without the rest of the Inferno."

Synopsis:
Tanner and Luca meet at Yale law school. Tanner is at the top of the social ladder and although these two seem to hate each other, a night of passion seems to turn the tides. However, Luca is called away from Yale due to a family matter and it’s three long years before they cross paths a again. When they come face to face its from opposite sides of a legal issue. With ulterior motives, secrets, manipulations and mind games, The Puppet Master (Tanner) is determined to get Luca exactly where he wants her.

"He’s had years of experience manipulating the world around him to get what he wants. There isn’t anything low or slimy enough he won’t do. He’s a master at wrenching control and a maestro of always having the upper hand."

"We are all pawns to be played in Tanner’s world. Man or woman, it doesn’t matter."

My Thoughts: The following are my thoughts about this book:

Characters:
- Tanner (28, successful lawyer who owns his own firm and handles corporate mergers):
- Tanner hates his dad and that relationship is the basis for his actions. His dad is controlling and mean and is calling the shots. Tanner must play the games his dad wants because his dad controls all the money.
- Tanner is very close with the other 8 guys in “The Inferno”. They are all controlled and manipulated by their fathers so they have major attitudes. They rule over everything at Yale and are bullies and manwhores. Three years after they leave Yale, they are still just as close and still trying to manipulate and rule their world.

- "Nine ruthless men. Nine unrepentant sinners. Nine irresistible manipulators that would do you a favor if you promised to pay the price. One doesn’t deal with the Inferno without getting burned.”

- "We were raised to play games, fuck over whoever gets in our way, and then move along once we have what we want to do it to another person. That’s my life. That’s Gabriel’s life. And everyone else in my group.”

- The following words/phrases were used to describe Tanner: gorgeous, dark presence, prick, arrogant jackass, biggest asshole on the planet, ruthless, menacing, playboy, maelstrom, bully, treacherous ass, vindictive, calculated, bastard, controlled, precise, brilliant mind, cunning spirit of the devil, hypnotic

- Luca (26):
- Went to Yale on a scholarship.
- Mother died of cancer three years ago and dad died in a car accident not long ago.
- Working on getting a divorce and a $3.7M settlement from her cheating hubby
- The following words/phrases were used to describe Luca: insecure, smart, humble, stubborn, frustrating, a puzzle, rebellious, sassy mouth, fighter, unbreakable, protective

Story Thoughts:
- Tanner & Luca’s chemistry was strong and intense in the second half of the story

- Maybe I missed it but I didn’t understand why Luca was so broke. I understand her husband squandered away her inheritance, but then why wasn’t she working???

- I wasn’t bored 👍. I will say I hate long, drawn out inner dialogue (which this has) but for some reason it didn’t bother me. 🤷‍♀️

- I really liked the relationship between the 9 guys. Their trust and bond was very evident. And, in typical guy fashion they loved to push each other’s buttons 🙂. On the negative side, they are definitely bullies and weren’t as appealing for me in the prequel.

- I especially liked the bond between Tanner and Gabriel. The fact that Gabriel always had to appease coworkers and talk some work-etiquette sense into Tanner was a great dynamic between these two. “There are a lot of things you can say to attorneys you feel have messed up, Tanner. But threatening to tattoo dumbass on their foreheads the next time they drop the ball is probably outside the scope of what is acceptable to Human Resources.”

- Unbelievable....she was in a marriage for 3 years and only had sex once??? 🤔🤨Why didn’t she file for divorce much earlier?? She seemed to lack ambition and aspirations for herself.

- Tanner’s relationship with his dad was not fully fleshed out and I felt like I was missing something. There are lots of stories written about rich boys who are neglected and/or beat by their fathers, so nothing unique here. But what was really driving Tanner's behavior? I felt like a puzzle piece or two was missing.

- This was an overly long book and some of it could have been edited out. There were repetitive and long inner monologues that didn’t add any value to the story.

- I liked the supporting cast. I’m excited to read book 2 with Gabriel and Ivy. Their interactions were definitely entertaining. Mason and Ava, man I’m already invested and want their HEA. And, of course, Jase and Everly. WTF happened to make her run like she did?? I’m intrigued!!

- The basis of the whole plot was not resolved.... "My father was on the way to the mansion, our phone call less than an hour ago filled with his bullshit warnings that if Luca Bailey wasn’t handled, he was going to make all of our lives a living hell. I didn’t know why she needed to be handled, just that we needed her under our thumb." .
No answer for this. It will probably be resolved in another book, but still, this drove the plot and at the end.....no resolution or understanding of why Tanner's father wanted Luca controlled.

"Ours isn’t the perfect story. It’s not what anybody would think of when imagining a romance. But it’s the story that matches who we are and who we’ve always been."

Overview:
- POV: Dual POV
- Tropes: Bully, Enemies to Lovers, Billionaire bad boys
- H likable? Yes. In the first 25% of the book he was a bit difficult to like. Typical rich, arrogant a$$hole. But, when you begin to see the other side and his loyalty and protection the heart swoons 🥰🥰
- h likable? Yes. In the beginning I thought she came across as a timid little girl. I’m glad to say she grew a backbone and I did end up liking her
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 7%
- First time they sleep together: 23%
- First time they say I Love You 98%
- steamy? Yes
- OW/OM drama? Yes. Luca married someone when she left Yale and she's trying to divorce him. He is a major part of the story
- H/h cheat? They sleep together in college and then go their separate ways for 3 years. They were not in a relationship in college and it was pretty much a one night stand. Luca is with her husband during the three year separation. I don't know if it was mentioned if Tanner was with other people during that time apart
- Time apart? Yes. Three years
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? there are some interesting secrets and revelations. Tanner fesses up around 75%
- Did I cry? No
- Did I laugh? a smirk here and there but no LOL moments
- Did I swoon 🥰? Yes - close to the end with Tanner's "grand gesture" 💞
- Cliffhanger? I’m going to say yes because the reason the fathers targeted Luca to begin with was never revealed and there are quite a few unresolved storylines with the other 8 guys. I’m sure the overarching story will continue throughout all the books and each book will try to reach a HEA for one of the guys. If your’re counting.....that’s NINE books that will fill out this series (Treachery, Fraud, Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence)
- HEA? HFN
- Epilogue? from Gabriel's POV and sets up the next book
- Recommend? Yes

Quotes
"That's what happens when you make a deal with evil. Everything goes fine until the day comes when he calls in his debt. Tanner doesn’t mess around with interest rates or repayable loans. No. If he does something for you, you can bet he’ll extract his pound of flesh in the most creative of endeavors."

"Hearing that she’d actively attempted to get out of working with me was a tiny little stab to the ego. Not huge. More like using a toothpick to poke an elephant, but still, it was there."

"I’m such a self-contained party that confetti bursts from my ass every time I fart.”

"Even I’m going to need a cigarette after all the eye fucking going on between you two. Seriously, get a room.”

"Unfortunately, the crystal ball I keep tucked in my ass has gotten wedged in place, and I’ve run out of enough lube to extract it. I’m unable to consult it at the moment, as a result."

“Cut the shit, Shane. I don’t have time for a heart to heart, emotional conversation. If you need to talk about your feelings and wipe your tears, call Oprah. Maybe you can get some brand suggestions for the fucking tampons you’ll need since you’ve apparently grown a pussy.”

Upon meeting while in law school, Luca Bailey thought she was rid of Tanner Caine, but three years later, he appears when she is about to lose everything. Knowing Tanner always plays by his own set of rules, Luca isn’t going to play nice until she realizes the game is much more complicated than she anticipated.

“Not that I don’t plan to see Luca sprawled across my sheets again, but only after she begs. And only because I’m forgiving enough to allow her that second chance.”

With a combustible push/pull dynamic between Luca and Tanner, the story progresses at a steady pace with different devious motivations intersecting at various plot points. Though the focus is on Luca and Tanner, the storyline continues to build upon the foundation set in the prequel for the Inferno members and how their own circumstances will affect the overall series.

“Tanner seduces while tearing people apart. That’s his game. He makes you want whatever bad news he’s tossing at you.”

In this book, the prequel is included to meld the past with the present timeline. For me, the present is much more appealing, though I still have a bit of a problem with certain aspect. Luca continues to be stubborn and fiery and that only serves to attract Tanner even more – and I liked that. Though Tanner can be cocky and abrasive, I enjoyed his sarcasm and found him entertaining.

Treachery is a romance suspense steeped in deception and a mysterious agenda. This book would appeal to those that enjoy the enemies to lovers trope.

Disclaimer: when reading a LW book, be prepared to have an out-of-box experience, some non traditional romance, with vicious, teeth baring dialogues and scathing sentiments. Her Happily Ever After involves broken souls fitting together with the middle finger raised to teh world🖕
"The happily ever after that everybody wants with bullshit rainbows and fluffy kittens. The gag inducing sweet ending that makes a normal person breathe easy and walk away satisfied. Except she doesn’t do that."

description

“Welcome to Hell everybody, a land of milk and honey, lustful spirits and every soulful, provocative sin you can imagine."
Well, if that doesn't set the mood for things to come, then I don't know what will....Lily has created nine circles of HELL and assigned one man to each Sin Circle. They're deliciously beautiful Human beings, with sexy smirks and tempting as Devil's Spawns themselves.
*sigh* how is girl to stay away...I tried..I really tried, BUT I fell hard for Tanner Caine (Treachery) and I hated that he loved baiting Luca Bailey...with her nerdy sweet, innocence and Smart Ass mouth..
"Tanner had been smelted using the purest of rare metals and then forged in the flames of Hell."

description

The first chapter rolls out the gauntlet for the indebted to run. It's for sick fun and shits & giggles for the spectators. The karmic couple is introduced, their eyes lock and their fates are sealed forever
The story is expansive, covers many characters and the tough struggles they're going through, wiggling under the super oppressive thumbs of their fathers and you have a Perfect Storm brewing on the horizon, with Tanner at the center of it, fighting on all fronts, for all his friends.
"There are so many moving parts, like an antique clock with all its gears and pulleys, one piece moving in a particular direction so that another piece will kick in and move in the opposite direction."

description

Lily creates shameless characters, who play ruthless games of cats dragging the mice till they whimper and beg to be killed.. She has no holds barred approach to her plotting, which always has me spellbound and turning pages as fast as I can. It's a non stop thrilling ride, a war of egos and battle of wills, where sparks fly raising the passion temperature to the nth degree, till it all explodes in hot sex and breathless kisses...oh so orgasmic comet showers!!!

description

I'm DYIIIIIIING to read Gabriel's story now, his Silver tongue and Fraudulent personality yet his undying brotherhood and sworn loyalty to Tanner, has me intrigued for more.

Boy was this something else, not perfect, but still an amazing read.

I had already read and reviewed the first quarter of the book, which was initially released as a prequel. This time I skimmed over that part but my thoughts on it can be found here Treachery Prequel.

I'm also going to point you towards this review here Ꮗ€♫◗☿ ❤️ ilikebooksbest.com ❤️'s Review as it perfectly captures how I felt about this book. When I was struggling to connect to Tanner when his arrogance was almost too much and I was considering DNF'ing Treachery (yep, I went from that to enjoying it.) I read this review, which not only resonated with me but gave me the impetus to complete the book. Thank you Ꮗ€♫◗☿, not only did it enable me to finish the story but I LOVED it by the end.

So how does a book go from being an almost DNF to almost 5 stars? Well in the case of this, it has the brilliant writing of Lily White. It has characters that, love them or hate them, have personality. It has a twisty plot filled with scorching passion and devious manipulations. The last third of this was, without doubt at least a 5-star read but in all honesty and fairness I couldn't give it that rating given my initial feelings.

Firstly it took me a long, long time to like Tanner. A very long time. Too long. He was just too much of an arrogant ass, too self-centred, too uncaring. The 'excuse' that he has been raised to be manipulative, that he hadn't had loving parents, didn't wash with me. Plenty of people use that experience to become a better person, to not repeat the sins of their fathers. Tanner hated everything about his Dad but I couldn't see how he was any different, in the long run. He was selfish to an extreme with, at one point, no redeemable qualities. I wasn't sure how the author would ever turn my dislike of him around, but my god she did, and then some. That alone indicates just how amazing her writing is.

The story starts with our protagonists at Yale, where they are all completing graduate courses. First of all, I suffered from having to suspend my disbelief at how powerful these nine men supposedly were. At how everybody other than Luca succumbed to that power, became ensnared within the web these guys had spun. Nope, not buying that, not for one minute. There was an overemphasis on how different Luca was in her behaviour, and I get that maybe it was to make her stand out, but it was another thing that was hard for me to believe.

Then there was the number of times Tanner mentally threatened that their fathers' days were numbered. At Yale, they were toeing the line because daddy was paying their way. Yet three years later, and financially independent, they still hadn't cut those ties. How they built this multi-million (billion?) dollar business so quickly wasn't explained, nor how it continued to thrive when none of them seemed to spend much time there. Tanner even bragged about letting others do all the work, if only running a business was that easy!

Finally, whilst a lot of their manipulation, and lies, felt possible, there were instances when far too many stars needed to align in the right order, at the right time, for their plans to work. The thing is these plans relied on people choosing one particular action where that outcome was not guaranteed. Where independent thoughts and actions could have thrown all those careful plans awry. The repeated need to suspend disbelief is where my biggest issues occurred, which made me want to close the book and leave it behind. BUT I didn't do that and thank goodness because boy did this turn out to be one heck of a ride. I couldn't read the last third, or so, quickly enough. There were red herrings and twists galore and I don't think I managed to call even one of them.

Luca kept me in this for quite a while, her strength, her fight, her determination not to be manipulated, and her ability to throw a spanner in the works and to ruffle Tanner's feathers. She learns from her mistakes and whilst she plays a dangerous game, she doesn't have many options. If Tanner wanted her help, her support and ultimately her love then he needed to earn it. Not by manipulating her, not by backing her into a corner and demanding it, forcing it, but by opening up, showing her the truth and letting her choose.

It takes a long time, and Gabriel's intervention, for Tanner to realise his lies, his tricks and his manoeuvrings would not work on Luca. To give her the FULL respect she deserved and allow her the freedom to decide her fate and future. And my oh my, when Tanner decides to do something he puts everything into it. He 100% earned her trust and loyalty. He worked for and deserved her forgiveness. He laboured for her love and there was nothing else to do but forgive him and accept him. Best of all was that in many ways he didn't change, he was still the same arrogant, full of himself, manipulative bastard, but not with Luca. I'm fairly certain he would kill for her, literally.

So in summary TL;DR after suspending some of your disbelief and ignoring what an annoying arse Tanner is, this is a cracking read with a fantastic heroine and a hero who does eventually earn her forgiveness.

3 stars

what i liked:
➴ the nine circles of hell. idk about you, but i’ve personally always been intrigued with topics such as seven deadly sins, nine circles of hell, things like that so yes, this series caught my eye because of that.
➴ GABRIEL. enough said. 🥺
➴ the bond between the nine guys. i’m a sucker for friendships/found family so hell yes i would love this part of the story.
➴ the first half was decent; i felt the sexual tension between the H/h and, even tho i was never invested in their romance or them as individual characters, i still liked the tension they gave off ... but it went downhill for me by the second half real quick lmao.

what i didn’t like:
➴ the reason i couldn’t give it more than three stars was because i didn’t feel invested in Tanner (H) and Luca’s (h) relationship. they had their moments, sure, but i honestly couldn’t care less about them by the end (and how i feel about the main leads’ romance plays a huge role on whether i’d love the book or not so). 😭
➴ listenn, i don’t need

this was an okay read. i liked some parts, but not enough for me to say i completely enjoyed it, but i’m definitely excited to read Gabriel’s story because i loved that man, thx. ♡

***5 "Maelstrom!!!" stars***

IT'S LIVE!!!

Treach-er-y (noun):
A betrayal of trust; deceptive action or nature.

It's crazy how fast an author could become your favorite after only 4 or 5 books!!!!
This is Lily White's year to prove me that she has the ability to become my number 1 author in lightning speed!!!
Seriously, guys!!!! There isn't a book of hers that i didn't fell in love with and that it didn't grab my attention from page 1...
She is my unicorn author and she has my absolute attention and devotion...
And this series, even with only one book out, has become my new addiction...
I want more and more of the Inferno Boys, now turned to men....

"Consider it a deal. But just know there may be repercussions for playing our dirty, dirty games."

Well, this book is a very promising beginning to a new world full of dirty games, games of power, lies and betrayal...
Each book will have a new main couple, but the plot is interconnecting between books and that's even more addictive and charming...
This series is about nine sexy as hell men who are bound together with a bond made of steele...
They are wealthy, powerful and strongwilled and they know how to play the game of seduction and power...
They just need to find the perfect match for them and i can not wait to see every single one of them get on their knees in the name of love!!!!

"Nine ruthless men. Nine unrepentant sinners. Nine irresistible manipulators that would do you a favor if you promised to pay the price."

Everything started on "Treachery-the prequel", but don't you worry, cause Lily turned the two books into one and you can start reading the past in here...
The Inferno Boys were such a big deal on Yale but not for the right reasons...
In a way, they were trapping persons in order to hold them in their palm of their hands for future use...
Luca Bailey had never meet these boys, but unfortunately, call it a fate, she is finding herself all the time between them... and she is always in front of their "leader", Tanner Caine, known as TREACHERY!!!!
From the first moment, a weird game is starting between Luca and Tanner... A game full of hate, lust, pushing, pulling and running...

"We were like two opposing forces that also had the annoying as fuck ability to attract. I didn't want to want this girl, but she was like gasoline to my fire."

"I was walking on air without realizing the problem with being up that high: the fall would only be that much harder."

In the present, Luca is leading a different life after running away from Tanner and the Inferno Boys, three years ago.... But Tanner is back and he is demanding crazy things from her and even though, she is in a very delicate state, she can not ignore her pride and her values...
So, for once again, a weird, sensual and full of electricity game is starting....
Tanner wants something from Luca and he won't rest until he takes it, even if Luca is remaining the stubborn woman that he is remembering from the past!!!!

"The timber of Tanner's words always had an effect on me. Except where other women had melted into puddles over their expensive brand name shoes to hear it, I'd been the girl smart enough to run."

"She's the girl who thinks she got away, and fortunately for me, circumstances have landed her firmly back in my grasp."

Well, honestly, i don't know what more i can say about this book...
There were happening so many things in here, there were so many people involved....
There were hundrends of secrets, lies by omission and not, mind games and games of power...
Luca had the baddest luck and she just needed to get her life back on track, but Tanner was making it impossible for her...
And that damn attraction wasn't helping none of them!!!

"Is it possible for fire to be as seductive as it is destructive? How the fuck can this one woman leave me begging to be burned by her flames?"

"A maelstrom.
That's what Tanner is.
Whether good or bad.
He is a violent turmoil that sucks you down.
Until you no longer care that you're drowning."

I loved both Tanner and Luca so much from the very first moment...
They seemed to be so opposite, but at the same time, they were having so many things in common...
They were both intelligent and stubborn as fuck.... Yes, there was bad blood between them since day one, but a little bit of touch could drive them wild with need....
Still, they were refusing to give in to each other and that was so charming to witness...

"Nothing has changed since Yale with him. He's still stubborn as hell, and I'm still willing to go toe to toe."

"Letting her go isn't an option. Not until I'm done getting what I want."

"Our fights are merely foreplay that confuses both of our minds."

Luca was such a wonderful woman!!!! I really felt sorry for all the things that she had to go through, and still... she never lost herself and she was still standing with squared shoulders ready to fight....
Tanner's behavior and bullying ways never made her bow and i loved her for that...
Tanner from the other hand was kind of an asshole, but i can totally understand why he had to become like that....
He could do anything about the rest of the Inferno Boys and that was something admirable in a weird way... Including to destroy his own heart, in order to do something good for them...These eight men were his only true family after all, and his loyalties were laying with them...
But Luca had become a weakness that we couldn't afford at the moment.

"How fucked up is that? I'm falling for my bully.
My tormentor.
The only person in the world who can piss me off as much as he does."

"She's carved her name into my bones-made herself irresistible and unforgettable.
That woman is mine.
Whether she knows it or not.
Regardless of the fight she puts up."

Luca and Tanner were explosive everytime that they were around each other...
I loved how they were fighting and how they were making up...
I liked their crazy conversations that weren't leading anywhere...
I liked this push and pull...
They were the prefect match for each other, even though they couldn't see it!!!!
I won't hide to you that they both made too many mistakes, but still.... These mistakes were making them stronger!!!

"She's not mine. She can't be.
I've done too much to fuck this up.
Yet, she is mine.
Every part of her."

"The thing with anger is that it's hard to look past the haze of red rage to see the truth of how badly you want someone.
Even if that person is the worst thing for you."

Honestly, I'm sitting on pins and needles until the next book...
I loved all these Inferno men and i want to learn all of their secrets....
Lily already had dropped some hints here and there and i'm very curious of what will happen after all!!!!
And i can not wait for the next book "Fraud", Gabriel's story!!! I'm sure that he will surprise me in unexpected ways!!!
Guys, if you haven't read yet Lily's books, you really don't know what you're missing!!!
So, what are you waiting for??? Go, grab Treachery!!!! TRUST ME!!!

"I hate to break this to you, Ivy, but payback is a bitch." {Gabriel}

* I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. Thank you, Lily!!!*

* BETA REVIEW by Ratula*

GAH!! Lily White just dropped the mic on a bomb new series that legit will own me!! I have been waiting for Treachery for a long time but honestly IT.IS.EVERYTHING!! This story is 1000% psychological mind games/bully romance and just pure perfection!! I am so addicted to this series. Tanner and Luca may be my new favorite couple from this author!!

Gah!! After the amazing Treachery prequel I had to know how Tanner and Luca's story concluded. Gah! This story was out of this world amazing! I was SO obsessed with the secrets, tiny breadcrumbs and the twists and turns in their tumultuous connection. White honestly knocked it out of the park. The mind games and the multitude of players in the game kept my head spinning. I seriously can't wait for more! 5 stars! ~Ratula

***

So, it’s been a few days since I finished the brilliance that is Treachery and was introduced to the Inferno. And, Oh. Em. Gee. I’m still at a loss for words as to explain the feelings and emotions that rolled through my bloodstream and my thoughts as I read Tanner and Luca’s story.

I loved the relationship between Luca and Tanner. That Luca didn’t just “shut up and take it”—that she really stood up for herself and bit back at Tanner’s attempts to push her out, push her away. I loved to seem him truly fall for Luca, for real. “Real” being a new concept for him.

From the harsh meet-not-so-cute in pre-quel through the very last word, I was enthralled with the wicked, smart, mind-bending, sexy AF deviousness of these characters. I had to know what drove them to such levels of heinous behaviors. Know if there were any redeeming qualities to them. And, in the end, I’m really not sure, but I will be back for more.

Gabriel’s story is going to be just as wicked and dark and dirty as Tanner’s and I cannot wait! ~ Missy, 5 stars

Before beginning Treachery, Treachery Prequel is included in Treachery so both books can be read in one. I'll be reviewing Treachery as I've already reviewed the prequel separately.

Nine men of wealth and power, a bond as strong as blood, this story features the continuation of Tanner Caine. Three years after Yale Tanner and Luca meet again this time in different circumstance but the hate and lust seem to be forever with them. Tanner is still manipulative and once again he traps Luca in his web of deceit. Luca thought she was finally free of Tanner and the Inferno Boys but she was once again caught in their maelstorm. Luca was stubborn and independent and Tanner's influence and cunning-ness is a part-charm of this book.

There are some loose ends of this book which I'm guessing will be cleared as this series continues. The Inferno Boys have a mission, each game they play are devious and heinous. These wicked and dark men are irresistible and dangerous. I'm so looking forward to each of their stories.

"Nine Standalone novels.
Nine dangerous men.
Nine unrepentant sinners you’ll hate to love."

Treachery is the first book in the 'Antihero Inferno' series by Lily White. After reading the prequel, I was counting down the minutes for the publishing of this book. And the author certainly didn't disappoint.

“Welcome to Hell everybody, a land of milk and honey, lustful spirits and every soulful, provocative sin you can imagine."

"Ninth Circle.
Treachery.
Also known as Tanner Caine."

Luca thinks that she is free of Tanner but three years later Tanner returns to finish what he started.

"Just remember not to start games that you can't finish.
I'm the type of guy who will keep playing them until you beg me to stop"

Tanner Caine is the linchpin of the group, he is a master manipulator who can play games like nobody else. Nobody can win against Tanner except the girl who bought him to his knees, Luca Bailey. Luca is a force to be reckoned with, she is stubborn and gives back as good as she gets.

"Is it possible for fire to be as seductive as it is destructive? How the fuck can this one woman leave me begging to be burned by her flames?"

Luca thought she would never see Tanner again after she left Yale, but three years later Tanner is back like a maelstrom, threatening to destroy everything in his path, to claim what always belonged to him.

"A maelstrom.
That's what Tanner is.
Whether good or bad.
He is a violent turmoil that sucks you down.
Until you no longer care that you're drowning."

"I was walking on air without realising the problem with being up that high: the fall would only be that much harder."

This book was a fast-paced, swoony read. It was hilarious and a page turner that didn't let me go until the end. Lily White has become one of my favourite authors in very short time and I would totally recommend this book.

Binge reading,
xo.

Who can make an Inferno hotter than it already is? Lily White can! That's who can do it.
I know summer is approaching and some people don't deal well with the heat, but I can guarantee that everyone will be very pleased to face the type of hotness contained in this book.

I want to keep this short as I'd feel bad to steal your reading time and keeping you from meeting Tanner is a sin.

Only two things
1) My fellow readers what are you waitng for? Jump on the Inferno wagon and prepare for a hell of a journey ;)
2) Ms White keep this sinful gorgeousness coming, pretty, please ;D

The ninth circle, nine dangerous men but one dark & treacherous leader that plays and plans all games, all so precisely. The Inferno boys have known each other all of their lives with fathers with so much power they rule the city and they are always willing to help but at what price. Once they help you, you are now indebted to them until they come calling in their favorites. No matter what cost it is to you or you risk the gauntlet being called in. What is the Gauntlet? You must read the book to understand. Tanner and the 8 other Inferno boys are on top of their game at Yale until their fathers tell them to get Luca Bailey under their thumb. Let me tell you what a task that is Luca is beautiful, smart, stubborn and at the top of her class kicking ass and taking names (basically a book nerd) lol that is until her roommate and best friend Emerly takes her to an Inferno party. This is where Luca is drawn to a dark, green moss eyes, seductive smirk, dark presence, to die for body, however he already has his sights on Luca. But what price am I willing to pay for this attention, I don't know because I ran. End of story right, not a chance...especially when Luca finds out he has been the puppeteer of her story called life. Great story a must read!!!

DNF 50%

I tried, I really did. I started skimming in the hopes I could revive my interest but in the end I just didn't care and life is too short for books that are excessively long with not much actual story. Where was the editor??

Waaaaayyy too much inner monologue for both characters. Prime example is the H asks the h a question and she takes 3 friggin pages of inner monologue to then answer with "Yes" and by this point I'm like "what was the question again?? It was 3 pages back and your waffling inner monologue bored me so much I forgot"

I was sucked in by the prequel. I liked the mystery of the Inferno guys and the sexual tension was great between Tanner and Luca but when we move to the present day nothing makes sense. The story at 50% has barely progressed and it honestly just felt so redundant. Whatever chemistry these two had back at Yale was lost and I just didn't see the appeal of Tanner. He does awful things for no real reason. In fact if he was honest with Luca they could have both gotten what they wanted.

Anyway...disappointed with this book. I hate tapping out of books but my Kindle was telling me I had over 5 hours of reading left and I was just exhausted by these inane, round about inner monologues.

Ninth Circle: Treachery. Tanner Caine himself. The linchpin of the group, the man who makes the hard decisions and calls the majority of the shots. A dark presence that repels as much as he attracts, he’s the poisoned apple I want to bite, even while knowing it will destroy me.

I do not know how to review this because everything I could mention is a spoiler, but I'm gonna try to keep it very brief.

Treachery had me hooked from the first page and kept me mesmerised till the very last word. The book starts with Treachery Prequel the past, three years ago .

3 Years ago Luca Bailey had caught the eye of the Inferno Boys and now they are back, again, to try to manipulate her into a debt towards them.

But Tanner's motives have changed, he still wants something for Luca and is desperately plying her to make a deal while helping her to get what is owed to her.

There is a lot happening, the story is fast paced and a real page turner.

Treachery is told in dual POV alternating between Luca and Tanner. It was a tumultuous journey and I loved every riveting moment of it.
The epilogue belongs to Eighth Circle: Fraud, also known as Gabriel Dane plus we are treated with three chapters from Fraud

“I don’t know, Tanner. Unfortunately, the crystal ball I keep tucked in my ass has gotten wedged in place, and I’ve run out of enough lube to extract it. I’m unable to consult it at the moment, as a result.”

Holy heck! This book kept me on my toes! I was unsure what Tanner and his friends were up to so I kept slowly peeking around corners, scared but excited about what I’d see, and then loving everything that was revealed to me but most importantly, the way it was revealed.

I loved the way Ms. White wrote this with a dark, twisted tone to it while introducing me to a very real heroine, Luca. My heart was in my throat so many times. I never knew what was going to happen. Luca was awesome! While she was uncertain and a bit fearful in the beginning, it doesn’t take her long to find strength within herself and soon her fierce independence is shining through. The way she handled Tanner was perfection and I loved everything about her.

Tanner was an amazing alpha anti-hero. I was never sure just exactly what his motivation was or what side of the law he stood on. He kept me guessing through much of the book and despite not knowing what despicable thing he might do next, I was falling in love with him. Tanner was totally possessive and jealous over Luca. The fact that he was the puppet master and he had completely fallen for this southern book nerd, made my heart leap with joy.

This was the perfect beginning for the series with so much steam and intrigue I’m already ready for the next book! I’m excited about what this author has in store for the rest of the guys in the Inferno and the women they’ll do battle with. I suspect we’re going to have a wild ride ahead of us!

3.5★★★Stars

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Book 1 of 9 from Antihero Inferno series
POV: First Person - Dual

“He’s the poisoned apple I want to bite, even while knowing it will destroy me.”

Three years has past after Luca Bailey left Yale.   She thought she was finally free from Tanner Caine but she will soon find out she was not even close to scape him and the Inferno bullies.

“How is it possible to want someone so much when you absolutely hate them?”

I honesty didn’t liked Luca as much on this book, but Tanner oh boy he seriously made the book for me.  As much as I disliked him on the prequel this book changed the way I felt towards him.  It didn’t changed the fact that he was still a jerk but a jerk I want for myself hahaha.

“Letting her go ins’t an option. Not until I’m done getting what I want.”

The chemistry and the steam built up between Tanner and Luca was on point, super hot as hell and I loved every second of it.  However; I felt the story itself could have developed a little more, I wished the plot would have been less dramatic and more suspenseful.

Overall, I enjoyed Treachery.  Readers who enjoy enemies to lovers stories will find this book appealing.

Tanner Caine is an Alphahole after my own heart. Gah! I lurve him!

This scorching hot cover drew me in, but special shout-out to my Bookgasms Babe and When Vane Reads for doing a modified buddy read with me to keep me on track!

Treachery is book one of nine, so I needed an extra nudge from these lovelies to get me started I’m so glad I picked this up. The over the top alpha vibes are through the roof in this book and I was here for it! Tanner is cunning, smart, and seductively sinister. He is a master of games and when he sets his sights on Luca, she has no choice of backing away. I thoroughly enjoyed the intricate plot, lovely writing, and amazing characters.

For the most part, the book was very exciting and well put together. Getting to know the dynamics of the characters and how the situation and circumstances unfolded was very exciting. It’s a pretty long book, but I breezed through quickly. The readability is excellent.

I immediately fell on love with Tanner. He’s a dreamboat for lovers of this type of bully romance. Getting to know all 9 of the Inferno brothers was a treat.

Luca held her own throughout the book. It was super fun to see her challenge Tanner at every turn. The angst and back and forth play between these two kept me engaged. I loved it.

So, why the lack of the 5th star? The book is not without a few minor flaws and editing issues. It’s a tad repetitive, repeated phrasing that’s used significantly throughout the novel plus a few loose ends that left me with questions. One in particular nagged me — why was a big deal made about Luca’s injuries when they were never addressed on page. Things like that pulled me out of the story, so while I loved it immensely it earns 4 stars. However, this book gets a high recommendation from me! If you like bully Romance, grabby hands!

Where to even begin, I am at a lost of words. Lily, I just have to start by saying this is a series that is going to rock every bodies worlds. It certainly did for me.

This may be my third book from this author and I am absolutely hooked in this authors writing. She has a way of pulling you in and making you eat out of the palm of her hands. Each book that she publishes out into the world, she gives us a piece of her soul and each book just gets better and better in opinion. I am absolutely obsessed with this author.

When I received the ARC to this book, I was super excited to get more into this world. You may be wondering why I said that, there is a treachery prequel but that is all included in book one.

After reading the prequel, it seemed like all was working well for me, it was like the universe or lily read my mind and an arc was sitting on my kindle. As soon as I picked it up I was sucked into a whole new universe.

Let me tell you now prepare yourself to not be able to put this book down.

Treachery by Lily White is a brand new book in a series called Anti- Inferno.

In this book we are Introduced to nine dangerous men, unrepentant sinners that you will hate to love. These nine men are known for their nicknames and how they have come to earn those nicknames is something I certainly cannot wait to find out. We have Treachery, Fraud, Violence, Heresy, Anger, Greed, Gluttony, Lust and Limbo.

This book focuses on one of those nine men who is nicknamed Treachery. His name is Tanner. This is Tanners and Lucas perfectly imperfect love story.

“Ours isn’t the perfect story,
It’s not what anybody would think of when imagining a romance.
But it’s the story that matches who we are and who we’ve always been.”

Our story started in college, but I ran from him so far I believed I was safe.
I should have known he’d find me eventually.
I should have known that nobody escapes.

Tanner first set his eyes on Luca at one of the famous inferno parties. When they meet again at the gauntlet party, this is where a connection was developed with a penetrating gaze. At first glance you would think tanner was looking at you in the eyes of hatred. As the story progresses you soon realise that he is the hunter seeking out his prey.

After that party she vows to stay away from him but that’s easier said then done. They have this force that keeps pushing them together.

“Tanner is terrifying because it takes nothing at all for him to set his sights on you, to ignite his anger and draw his attention. And instead of simply destroying you physically or mentally, he is the type of monster who will alter your entire world and leave you struggling to beat he while watching it all coming down.” - Lily White: Treachery

Maybe monster is the wrong word, it’s too simple, Too ordinary, Other men are monsters, Lesser men are monsters, Not Tanner, Tanner is Maelstrom.

And this is when the games really begin.

Fast forwarded three years later and they are back in each other’s lives and all is not what it seems.

The thing is that I am gonna say is that you need to pay attention to the details. This entire series is a plot twist. I am not normally a note taker when it comes to reading books but with this one I have become so obsessed in the fine little bits of information that was given that I had to.

This is the type of book that you won’t get answers all in one book, but you will find them throughout the series. This author will leave little breadcrumbs of information throughout and it’s for us to try and figure out at the end.

I am not going to go into the plot of this story but I will tell you that. The Mystery around Tanner and Luca comes to light where Secrets and lies will be revealed, little did we know that Tanner was more involved in how Luca’s life planned out then we thought.

How you might be wondering. Well you’ll have to read to find out.

The question is when all is revealed will Luca be able to forgive Tanner?

Luca is a women that besides everything she has been through, she still comes out slaying. How she can still be her fiery, sassy self astounds me. She is literally goals. But deep down you can just see that all she wants is to feel alive, free, be reckless and reclaim the sunshine she once had.

Tanner, Tanner, Tanner. Everything about you I absolutely loved. Your a league of your own. As much as I believe you could have done things differently. I understand that it was the only way you knew how. The only way you’ve been told. Tanner is a machine, a work of art and has a body that is shaped to seduce.

One thing you should know about Tanner is that his very protective over things that are his. He will do absolutely anything and everything to protect them.

I’ve never seen two people practically made for each other then these two. From the moment they locked eyes, you could feel the undeniable connection that they had. It was building up each time they would share the same room together.

“ We’re two opposing forces, yet constantly being shoved together. And everytime it happens, it explodes into this moment.

I still can’t get over this book, you definitely have to go and one click this book when it releases. You won’t regret it.

If your after a book that has so many twist and turns, is unputdownable, unpredictable, a page turner, addicting, consuming then this book is for you.

5 Stars!

I think many of you know I am a sucker for these dark bully romances. Though it is hard to come by one that checks all my boxes. Treachery ... What took me so long finding you?! Man this book checked ALL my boxes and left me with 8 more men to look forward to!

The games these guys play are ruthless. The mess they make of Luca's life is no joke. They went to extremes to get what they needed from her that was a few years in the making. When it all comes out you have to wonder why she would stay. But I know why. Tanner. He's the kinda guy that can bring you to your knees without you remembering how you got there. The type you break all your rules for. He is a straight up ALPHA. But Luca is no damsel in distress. She holds her own up against this beast of a man. She gives a good fight. In the end I say they both won.

We get to meet all the guys that will follow. Gabriel stuck out because he is Tanner's best friend and he played a big roll in what was going on between Luca and Tanner. I'm excited to read his book next. The book I'm most anticipating is Jase's. Not knowing what went down between him and Luca's bestie, Everly is driving me nuts.

Anyways, if you are a dark bully romance lover like me, you gotta pick this one up!

Happy reading dolls! xx

treachery

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Luca finds herself at the end of the road. She has nothing to lose. When an opportunity to take back what’s hers arises, she hesitates. She knows that making a deal with the devil comes at a hefty price.

This made the rounds on bookstagram and who can blame my fellow book bloggers? It’s a beautiful book cover. Lily White is a legend. So I picked it up, too. All in all, this was a fast-paced read with a slow start. There was one scene that made me snap; after that I was fully invested in the characters (it happened around 20% in). I give chances to books rather than give up on them AND HERE I WAS REWARDED WITH SUCH A TREACHEROUS TREAT!!!!!! Luca is an incredible lead. I admire her from head to toe. I rooted for her so much. Treachery or Tanner Caine or Daddy Devil (if you’re nasty) is the perfect counterpart. Their back and forth shenanigans were entertaining and swoon-worthy. Once Tanner unfolds upon these pages (damn, I study English Lit and this is what I come up with?), I truly started enjoying his character. His connection with the other eight is glorious and heartfelt. The chemistry amongst the characters is never ending. There are a lot of twists and turns in this story. And there’s one BIG twist in the epilogue that had me like WHOA, I like you even more now LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. It’s a more devilish version of Sanders from Degradation by Stylo Fantome, those who know will get the reference.
I can’t wait to read the next books in this series! What a start! Lily White delivered the goods once again. Steamy, hilarious and dramatic!
I recommend this to all the lovers of anti-heroes, heroines with back bones of steel (this might be a paraphrase of sth Tanner said about Luca) and a whole lot of twisted family/relationship dynamics.

Original comment: That twist in the epilogue... devilishly deceiving !
